Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello TxLadyJane I have a question for you...I'm confused about when you got there and the security time. Did you get to see your sailor from the time you got there and when the security opened up? Or did you wait from that time until 5:00am to get to see him? Also, does he have to be with you when you get your gate pass as there seemed to be a confusion about that on the blogs below.  Thank you in advance.

thank you, so we just get tht guest pass and should be good, and can take more photos too. I'm getting ready now, just gotta wake the other half up and tell him we need to go this early,,

when will we know when they leave GL for A school?  Do they let the SR's know soon?

oneluv:  We did not know until the "I'm a Sailor call" when our son was leaving GL for Goose Creek.  This really was bad, but it can't be helped.  I had planned with my son's Fiancée to stay in GL until Sunday so "just in case" he wasn't a Saturday Departure we could spend all day with him on Saturday as well.

Sad but they will not know when they are leaving before that "I'm a Sailor call" from what I can gather, they (Nukes) are almost always Saturday Departure's.  I have heard of, but not recently, that they have had people in the Nuke program leave as late as Monday, but not for a long time.

We have to understand RTC wants to get them to their schools as quickly as possible so they are no longer responsible for them.  It is better for the new Sailor to be awaiting training at his/her school than at RTC, as they will not be as restrictive.

A real bummer, but I understand.  Thanks for your information.  I have booked hotel, but have waited on the flights.  Maybe I'll ask on the Nuke moms site to see what they have to say.  thank you again!!

Oneluvdmom, my Nuke SR ships out Saturday on the 23rd to Goose Creek.

I received a letter last week from my son telling us that he would be leaving for Pensacola early Saturday morning. We don't fly out until late Sunday night, so I am a little bummed out...I was really looking forward to spending some time with him
