Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

thanks for the info. I still haven't made any plans at all grads on 4/16 !!! I will be booking my hotel today though. I don't know where he will be going to A school yet. I know he was talking San Diego before he left, but as you know things can change. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he does go to San Diego, cause we live in California and it will make it easier to give him his stuff. I agree with you they should have something for us moms. great idea! Thanks again,

Hi all you 06/922ers out there. Got a nice newsy letter today, but thats because my son had his wisdom teeth pulled and had a couple of days in siq with nothing to do but write. He too is G'nG, so we want to make the most of our time on Fri. Anybody know anything about going into Libertyville?. My husband thought it might be less busy than Chicago for a Fri dinner. Guess I need to read the rules on Liberty to see just how far from camp they can go.
Also, my son is going to A school for subs. Anyone know where that might be? I'm sure he'll let us know eventually but I'm dying to find out.

Hi colleen,
My son called me! I was at the dentist office with my 9 year old who is terrrified of the dentist, so, I couldn't leave the room! I felt really rude talking on my cell phone but that feeling didn't last too long. He told me that he passed his first PT tests tomorrow he will get a packet of information about grad and go stuff and where he will be for the next two years. He sounded really happy and excited to talk to me.

Hi Colleen - My son, Danny, is doing A school for subs, too. He has been told he will be in Groton, CT, but his recruiter told him there's a chance he could go to VA or GA.

Got the call last night, my son is also G-n-G. He said he'll get 'till 2100 (9:00pm) Friday, and likely leave in the early am (1:00 or 2:00).
He said he's made some good friends already (your kids) and is looking forward to doing the 2 PIRs prior to his. -

Lucas' dad, my son was surprised that i was online and found a few people who's loved ones are on ship 6 div. 922. he says the division is really fun. says one kid was breakdancing while some were rapping. they were told to "SHUT DOWN!" that was on a sunday, so no one got in trouble. thanks for the g-n-g info. i got another letter today. This is getting better everyday.

Hello loved ones, just wanted to let you know that I left a comment on the main wall below last night that addresses some of your GNG questions about what to expect for your new Sailor during Liberty weekend. Sounds like your Recruits are being briefed as well. :)
Emma, if your son will be a HM (Hospital Corpsman) i.e. "medic", then he will move over "across the street" in GL. He may be one of the last classes to do so as there is a brand new, state of the art facility that has been built in San Antonio Texas. (I need to check my sources this weekend and find out the start date for those classes) This is where all future Corpsmen will train, alongside other medical personell from the Air Force and Army. The Marines don't have their own medics, so they rely on our guys getting attached to a Marine Division. Not all do, but some will. No one has been better trained then the Navy Corpsmen to now, it's intense, thorough and second to none, so this will be an interesting move! :)
Colleen- the new Sailors cannot venture further than 50 miles from the base during their Liberty time after PIR. If you are going to go into Chicago anytime, I recommend that you use the Metra train system (buy the cheap all weekend passes) and avoid the hassles and headaches of traffic and parking downtown! There are a bunch of little pocket communities around Great Lakes that have places to eat. Try the Gurnee Mall too. You will want to stay close enough to RTC to get him back to the base quickly and ON TIME! Just an FYI: all of them, but especially 900 Div Sailors, are very tired on Friday afternoon, and may not want to do much except visit, relax, sleep, take a long, HOT shower, ALONE, text/call friends and check their FB pages or other things online. My son was on the Honor Guard Drill Team and all he wanted once he was free (and we got out of the NEX and off base) was to rest, relax, go to a movie and have dinner at the Olive Garden!

How did you find out that your son is grad and go? I'm curious because I called the PAO and they told me my son's orders weren't issued and that I could call back at the end of March to find out. They said my son will probably know before then.

Hi Bob, my son told me he was a grad and go when he called me last week. he said that he was going to get a packet last week and that would tell him where he would go after graduation.

My son Chris is GnG too. He is going to A school in San Antonio for MA. I got my first letter and 2nd phone call last week. He needed some college transcript faxed so he got to call again the next day.
I am not going to be able to go to PIR but I hear you can get a video. Anyone know how to do that or does the SR have to?
I have to be at a conference in Boston but his Dad and brother are going so I have been reading comments on where to stay etc.
