I started this discussion so we’re able to keep all our thoughts on our meet and greet in one place.

Please share all your Ideas you have for our meet and greet here

*some groups have made buttons; ribbons; worn different color scarf’s ( to identify who you, your division, and who your Sailor is) PIR 8/13/2010 are buying “sailor hats” and each one is decorating their own, I think (I thought that was a cool idea)

*Also if you could please place your name, your SR's first name and the names of who is attending meet & greet with you here, that would be great as well, even if your not attending, I still want to include you in the list below.

 

The Ramada provides Hot Hors d'oeuvres, but drinks are not included.  Drinks are available, each person will be responsible for their own bar tab.  If you are staying at the Ramada you will receive a couple of drink coupons.

We are coming and there will be 4 of us, my hubby, our son, my m-i-l, and myself. Our son's gf will be there but she doesn't even get to the airport till 7:30 or after. I think she talked to someone about sticking around to meet her.
I think if we just did ribbons of different colors that would be great. Sailor hats are a really cute idea, too! I'm open to ideas!

My real name is Kelly. My husband (Who's graduating) is Michael. There are 3 of us: Me, my mother-in law Angela, and my father-in-law Larry.
Ribbons are cool, sailor hats are cute,but quite frankly, I think some of the guys that come might be a little embarrassed to wear sailor hats.

I like the ribbon idea too - simple to do! So what color(s) would be for our Division? Are they pre-established?!

We are coming!! Four of us... My daughter and I from Virginia , My father in law and Kids dad from Maryland! We should be meeting up at O'hare around one! Staying at the Ramada til sunday!

Ribbons sound nice!! Tell me a color and I'll grab a spool from Michaels!!

I like the ribbons idea... and we can wear them to graduation too not just Meet and Greet. I didn't find the t-shirt either, so I wonder if they're just not available over here on the east coast? I saw a pin on zazzle that said "Sailor's Angel", so I might do something with that to make it personal, but I'd like to stick with the colors.

BTW, they DO have division flags so NAG YOUR SAILORS to send you colors! We can copy their colors to match. :D

My SR's name is Karlton, he is my fiance'. I (Kinsi) will be at the Meet & Greet along with my mom (Gail). I like the idea of ribbons too, that would be really cute and easy to identify. If we do colored ribbons I want to call "dibs" on green for 283 if that is okay with everyone :)
In one of my questionnaires I made a "Bonus Section" where I asked him to illustrate some things. Some were funny (himself before vs. after PT) and another one I asked him to illustrate was a picture of his divisional flag. He is not an artist per say so it might be really funny. I am a third grade teacher and he always laughs and says that some of my students can draw better than him so..... (that is kind of why I asked for the illustrations so him and I could both get a laugh out of it, ha!). However, if it comes out pretty good I will scan it and post it :)

I like the idea of color ribbons too. And green is fine by me. What color shade of green, like forest or lime? Just post on here what each div wants for a color and I'll put that up top next to div #. I also asked my son to give info on div flag in a questioniare, hoping to get it back soon.

Any type of bright pretty green is fine by me. Here is a chart of different shades of green according to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Shades_of_green
Some that I think are nice from this chart are: Islamic Green, Office Green, and that last one called Variations of Green. But those are just suggestions... I am open to any type of green :)
Also, I looked at the Ribbons from PIR 7/23 and they are more like sashes, but VERY cute! I actually really like the sash idea because then it is viewable from both the front and the back when people are walking around and chatting with eachother. One suggestion if we do sashes is to use wider ribbon... maybe about two inches wide... that way it will stand out more and have more room for bigger letters/numbers or whatever we end up writing on them.

Whatever color it is, maybe we can all get the same ribbon from Michael's or AC Moore or JoAnn's if you all have them out your way. I'm not sure where or what you all have but I know there is a JoAnn's out in Cali and there is one here. Not sure about VA, but eh... that might be the best way to find the right shade :)

I personally wouldn't mind green since it's my SR's fav color. I happen to like Navy Blue but that was even before all this started (I have a navy wall in my bedroom with 3 other gray walls).

on the chart, I like: Fern, Hunter, and UP Forest... of the lighters ones I like: Asparagus, Celadon, and Veridian. I think that teal and pine green are too 'blueish'. HOWEVER, I'm really happy with whatever everyone decides. :)

I saw the sashes and the ribbons and they're a cute idea. Personally I'd look HORRIBLE in a sash because of my body type, but hey, I'd strut my stuff for my SR and you all! lol!
