Congrats on your son becoming a sailor, my son to called me and was the same he was so excited I cannot wait to see him. I was wondering if you knew the people on his list are those the only people being aloud into the base I know they wont be aloud inside the graduation but I was confused on the part that they wouldnt be able to drive in there to park. I was hopeing if there was room after everyone was seated they might leave other family members in. Just wondered. Thanks and I am too looking forward to friday
I heard  from a Mom that was through this before that they always let in additional family in and that she had never heard of anyone being turned away, I have no first hand knowledge, just what she said...I hope so, we, too, have an extra family member hoping to get in.....is your son in div 80?...where is he headed next?...mine is off to Groton, conn on tues
My son passed battlestations, but I did not get the excited call I was expecting.  He said the RDCs told the division that for the next week whenever they weren't practicing for graduation they would either be standing at attention at the foot of their racks or they would be getting "beat."  It is a little upsetting to me that the boys don't seem to get to celebrate their accomplishment.  I knew the RDCs were tough (he never received any calls other than what was required), but REALLY?  Just wondering if any other moms got the same message from their sons in div 80.  I realize he was really tired when he called, but I am still pretty upset.
I kinda got the same vibe from my son..same unit as yours....my son said that they are in a " hard ass" unit..all men...and their rdc...well.....................and my son said he has been sick the whole time and refused to go to medical because he didnt want to miss anything....that their wasn't any compassion..for anything......
My son is in div 80, ship03  and I have heard nothing of this...My son nwas so excited and said it really is not so bad but who really knows until we see them...I hope our sons are getting to celebrate their hard work.
How long is the "I'm a Sailor" phone call? Do they get 15-20 minutes or just a few seconds?
well. we talked 15 minutes and then he was going to call his girlfriend, so I guess they were allowed a good amount of time....hope you get yours soon!
I was told the same thing from my son. The rdc basically threw their navy hats at them and they got beat. There was no allowing for their moment of pride and glory! I wish I was there... Gggrrrrr! They worked hard and deserved their moment.!
Now, mama's feathers are ruffled!
way to build morale....jeez...my son didnt tell me that...where's that dude's accountability?
oh , but he did say the rdc acted indifferent, bored, and would have rather been somewhere else...
I am still waiting for the call.. Battlestations was Thursday night. What that heck....???????  In my house my family knows when Momma isn't happy , no one is happy... LOL.. I am getting flustered.........
oooooo..I'd be rippin my hair out!!!!....
