Im not familiar at all with the Great Lakes/ Chicago area.  So, figuring out what to do during liberty is a little tricky.

If you know of any fun things to do, or places to see, post it here, please!  I need ideas!

Looks like I'm going to be one of the lucky ones that gets to hang out w/ my husband all weekend.  (he's an HM staying in G.L. for A-School)

Does anyone know if there is a Navy Museum at RTC?  And, if so, are we able to go to it?  Not that my Sailor would love to go to one~but we would!

One thing to remember about PIR weekend most of the Sailors just want to visit with you, eat, sleep, and take hot showers.  They are so used to being told what to do that when you give them options they are not sure what to do.  Do not plan a bazillion things to do, take it easy, and follow their lead.  The Gurnee Mills mall is close and big with lots of restaurants to choose from nearby.  They have to be in their uniform at all times unless they are in your hotel room, then they can change into something from home but can not leave the room that way.  If you go to Chicago make sure you are back in plenty of time, the traffic is bad and I have seen many people lose liberty for coming back late.  If you are wanting to sightsee the area this may not be the best weekend for that. Every time we got in the car just to go eat my son feel asleep.  Remember also to read the rules for PIR weekend.

I think you can read my mind! haha.  I want to just hang out in the hotel room and spend time together.  But- I also want a back up plan in case he gets bored.

I'm interested in things like Restaurants that we can eat at.

I dont like the idea that he can't hold my hand or anything like that in public. So, I think we'll spend most of our time in the hotel.

I doubt he will be bored, tired & sleepy maybe, want a hot shower - yes, want to eat a good meal - yes.  Do not worry about trying to fill your time, the weekend goes by way too fast.  What kind of restaurant are you interested in? Lots of them around the Gurnee Mills Mall.
dUH...Thank you Ragdollrae....I now see you have the Museum listed!
