I bought and i know we paid too much but i just have to have things set ahead of time. have you heard anything from your SR to indicate things are on track?
no. He mentioned PT when we talked on the phone, but that was WEEKS ago.  Nothing in letters other than he hates it in there. <worried>
Your definitely not alone, Im going through the exact same thing, all of those things are what stopping me from buying the tickets already, but you can't wait till last minute neither.
We purchased a couple of weeks ago on Southwest Airlines because I heard that they are the only ones that do not charge you to change the date.  They only charge you the difference in price, if there is one.  I also booked at the Navy Lodge because you can cancel up to the night before with no charge.  I would have rather booked on Priceline.com, but didn't want to take a chance on the date changing.
I understand that if you buy the "online special" you cannot change them...only the more expensive tickets...is this true with SW?
with SW you can change the flight.  (EXPERIENCE  changed it twice now already)  the web specials are the best deal.  if you have to change the flight you do it online ( or call) and pay difference if more and get credit if less.

k...thanks! I was worried that the less expensive tickets meant that they were not exchangeable...

that helps!

they advertise no change fee period

I also booked on Southwest beacuse you can change and it was actually cheaper through their website than priceline was. You can do hotel and car also. Most of the hotels will let you cancel  up to 24. In fact, going through priceline the hotel deal was  nonrefundable for ANY reason.

and here's another thing I'm struggling with...do I leave Saturday or Sunday...

If he's leaving to San Antonio on Sat...there's no need for me to stay.

If I fly out on Sat...and he stays in GL for A school...and he gets weekend liberty...it's gonna hurt!!! LOL

ugh...I need to tuck the mad planner in me away and have faith that it will all work out! 8-/

That was kind of my dilemma.  We are returning home on Saturday evening.  Supposedly my son is a grad n go.  If that changes, we will change our flights to Sunday and stay an extra night.  We may have to pay a little extra to change the flights, but I can't bear the thought of leaving early when we could be spending more time with him.  On Southwest you only have to pay the difference in flight costs, if there is one.
I booked on the American Airlines and just paid $38.00 extra to be able to change the date within 75 days of the original date. My tickets were only $278 total form Austin Texas to O'Hare airport.
