Any parents out there of SWCC class 71-2 seamen?  I'd like to hear what's happening from other parents.  I'm getting a one-dimensional perspective from my W.  What are the daily activities?  How are they supporting one another?  And how are we feeling?

Hi margeeim!

My sailor said they had a big inspection today (they had a mock inspection Friday).  He said Friday was their introduction to the obstacle course, too.  He was telling me about their learning to swim tactically and running with their packs everywhere.  They have classes to learn about their gear. He mentioned that they haven't received mail yet.  Lots of running in soft sand and sitting in the  surf, PT on the beach and swimming in the pool. When I texted him Sunday, he was ironing. At least it wasn't in the middle of the night, like in bootcamp!

Thanks.  It's really good to hear an update.  My guy is pretty general in our discussions, though he did say he was a "sugar cookie," meaning they were in the ocean and then rolling in the sand.  At least one week of indoc has passed...two to go...  Keeping the entire class in my thoughts...

Glad for the update.   I didn't hear replies to text messages last night, so I was worried.  I haven't asked about the DORs...don't want any bad karma swarming in around in my son's mind.  Prayers to all...

Hi Louise,

First of all, let me say I'm sorry if your sailor feels his class is being punished for anything these moms have said on this site.  The intention here is certainly not to get anyone in trouble, or God forbid, endanger National Security.  We are just a bunch of moms that love our sailors and are trying to deal with a whole new way of life because that is what these sailors have chosen.  I know nothing of a Facebook site related specifically to this group.  I don't think I want to.  As for the stuff posted thus far, it's definitely no more than what the Navy themselves put out there in Surviving The Cut or what can be seen on YouTube.  I think we need to be vigilant to monitor ourselves for our sailor's sakes and stay calm.  Certainly, more detailed information is best privately conveyed.  They need our support and positive energy.  We need to give each other support as well. There is always going to be a psychological element to this training and way of life...just be strong, stay positive. Allow the sailors to stay focused at the task at hand and let the Navy (and their monitors) do their jobs.

My intent is not to put our seamen in jeopardy or to have them punished for my actions.  I am a Mom who fiercely loves all of her kids, including my W.  When I first joined the site I did include my son's name, not knowing the implications of what I was doing.  I no longer do that.

For any Navy personnel monitoring the site, it would be helpful for the SWCC command to send out an information packet to parents, much like what is done for basic training.  That might save all of us some angst.

For anyone who is interested, you can contact me at margeeim1043@gmail.com.

As always, fingers crossed, four-leaf clovers, and prayers for Class 71-2.

Hi Ladies, My son is in the first week of CQT, class 71-2.  I am not sure this is the same 71-2 as yours though because he has been in SD since September 2011.  Please clarify.  Thanks.

Congratulations to your son Ellen!  So proud!!  Will your son be able to even talk to my son when he shows up next month?  he is scheduled to arrive 6/10.  I gave him your email and number now that he has his cell phone so if he has questions he can contact you directly.  Thanks again for all your help and support - Stacy in Nevada
