Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OMG, This site is making me overwhelmed. I just can't keep up. I have over 300 messages, and most of them are not about our children. When I first signed on I thought it was great! I thought this site would share important information on what to expect, and how to navigate Boot Camp. I just feel like some posting are necessary. And does not benefiting the group as a whole. I am a working mom, trying to make sure I have all pertinent information. So please please be mindful.

It can get overwhelming, but keep in mind that this site isn't just used for information. It is used to vent, get information, meet new friends, socialize with others that understand, get prayer, and most of all get support from our Navy family among other things. If you are getting to many e-mails, unfollow the groups and discussions and then go back to them when you have a quesion that needs answering. It is what I do to limit the amount of e-mails I get. There is a button right under the comment box in each discussion and dforum where you can stop following so you won't get the e-mails.

I understand how you feel!  I signed up for four groups - one of which isn't very active - and there are a LOT of messages!  I get e-mails when a new comment is posted and that's how I deal with them.  Mostly I click through and read them quickly - or pass on by if it's not something I need to know or that I'm interested in.  I save the e-mails with good info in them and delete the rest.  The only time I come on the website is to respond to a message I saw through my e-mail or to post something myself.

Depending on the number of groups you're in, you might want to cut them back a little so that you're just getting messages from the ones most directly related to your SR.  This site is not just about information, it's also about support and morale for those of us left behind, so there are a lot of posts from people just looking for reassurance, or needing to talk about this to people who understand what's happening and how they feel.  That does mean that there are a LOT of messages!

Here are some directions for "How to's:

How to Stop Following a Group or Discussion:

Underneath the Comment Box is the link to follow or stop following a Group. When you join a Group (and your settings are not set to block it) it will automatically be set for you to follow it.

Look at the link if it says "Stop Following – Don't email me when people comment"...click the Stop Following and it will change to : "Follow – Email me when people comment".

The same goes for any discussion that you create. Since you made this one it will automatically be set to send you an email everytime someone replies to it. You just click Stop Following.

Change your Email Settings:

Go to your Status Box which is located in the far right column of any page that you are on. It is directly underneath your Username in the dark Blue Header. Looks like this:
