Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi Jill,
My son commissioned at PSU in May 2014. It was a small group and a rather quick ceremony.
His speech was read by an officer in the unit while he is standing on stage and then my husband and my son's father put his shoulder boards on him and I did his cover. The photographer took some nice pics that we were able to purchase online. After the ceremony the officers are free to go. We took our own pics and then walked around campus to catch some...had to go to the lion for sure!

Thanks for the information. So, the family actually gets to place the shoulder boards. That is really cool. Does the family practice before ceremony? Also, you mentioned a speech. Was it your son's speech or the commander's speech? We are so excited and have some extended family coming. Our son says that after the commissioning ceremony everyone just travels around campus taking pictures.
Where is your son? Did he get his choice? Does he like it?

LOL no practicing...depending on how many people he wants to be involved...there are three things to go on them. 2 shoulder boards and his cover (hat). The speech is written by your son in appreciation and thanks to his family. Officer reads it while he is on stage...yes we toured entire campus to get all the pics my son wanted...
My son just finished API at Pensacola NAS and moved to Milton FL today to Whiting NAS for his next leg of this journey I believe it is called Primary. I am still learning the lingo. Yes he got his first choice from PSU to be a Navy Pilot. He loves it but a little stressful. They are doing so much on their own now. Today he is at Walmart and I am shopping virtually with him as he sets up his first apartment. He could not find anything furnished so we are learning...renting furniture and a washer and dry.
He does love it but he has a good foundation growing up...study habits paid off and well as is organization and structure. Tim thinks he knows your son...I'll message you and we can share last names.
Where is your son going? Tim has quite a few friends who are Commissioning in May
