Hey! My husband graduates basic 1/22 and will head to Goose Creek for school. We're coming from CA with two cats so I'm trying to prepare for the move as much as I can. Because they screwed up his last pay its been hard to save for the move with bills and all.
How did that reimbursement process go? I've heard some say they reimburse us when we arrive and I've also heard they'll give an allowance before he leaves to come back to CA. If it's the first one, it's going to be tough.
How should I pack my goods? We know we want to do a Navy move due to the distance, but some have told me to start packing and some say they pack for you. Don't wanna under prepare.
Do they pack shampoos or lotions? I know they won't take cleaning supplies.
Will they give him a route to take or do we prepare that? I've looked into I-40 and it seems promising.
Will we have to be in temporary lodging when we arrive to SC or will the house be ready by then?
Thank you in advance!!

Hi, Eva!

I don't have all of the answers, but I do have some!

So, the movers will pack for you! Woo. Not sure on WHAT they will pack for you regarding lotions and the like, but I am sure somebody will be able to tell you. Maybe call the local companies and ask? Keep in mind your stuff won't get here for a while. Maybe a few weeks after you arrive. Speaking of arriving. Friday-Graduation Saturday-he flies here to GC Sunday throughTuesday information on NNPTC and being married here. He should be able to sign a lease during this time. Normally, he would fly back to get you, but since you are doing a Navy move he won't, from my understanding. So, you might want to rethink that. Maybe he can fly back with a partial DITY move, but I am not sure. He will have to ask when he gets here. I can just imagine you won't want to drive yourself and two kitties all by yourself across the country.

I think I covered a lot of it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you! So if we do a Navy move he can't come back and help with the drive? Thats not good at all. Coming from CA a DITY move would be pretty tough along with a vehicle and cats. I'll have to look into a partial and see what that would mean for us. He was under the impression the few times I talked to him that he was flying out the 27th so I'm not sure who he talked to.
