For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Don't forget holidays, family events or birthdays - Just light a a blue candle, any type of blue candle (Blue for Navy) and allow its warm glow to bring you comforting joy & peaceful solace, and while separated from your Sailor.

Storymom fun picture. Makes me want to eat candy!
Caryn, very good question. You can buy wax candles in a blue jar and light it. You can get a single electric candle with a blue bulb and have it on 24/7. After four years "In The Navy" we burned lots of wax candles and now use the electric single candle. It is near our son's boot camp picture and draws our attention to him every time we enter the room.
I do hope everyone did have a fun and safe Halloween. We saw some very imaginative costumes even from the big kids!
Our Blue Candle is Glowing for All of Our Sailors, Families, Friends and Babies waiting to be born! (Our Sailor's wife is having twins, boy and a girl in March 2018.) For the people of Las Vegas and now Santa Rosa, CA, our home town.

Baker,
Both my husband and I served in the Navy during Vietnam also. We were stationed in San Diego. We didn't marry until after we were both out since he was an officer and I was enlisted!!! We never pushed any of our kids to join, it was, like you said, what they wanted!!! And I remember many of the negative reactions we received, as military members, during that time!!! I was called some nasty names when I was in uniform.

I was in the Air Force during the Vietnam war. Lucky for me I was stationed in Tucson on a Titan II missile crew. Never went to Vietnam but we still suffered the negative feelings of being in the military. I told my two sons not to join the military. One listened and the younger one joined the Navy. He is happy. I am happy that he has a beautiful wife who is taking care of him. Allows me to sleep at night.
Good for your son who chose not to be in the service. Good for your three that did join the service. It is what they wanted to do. When we worry about our Navy sons/daughters we have to remember: "This is what they wanted to do!"

Anna Bravo Zulu to you "Mom!" Wow! Twin Sailors! And two older sons! Women are amazing. Very proud of all "Mom's!" (I am an Navy Dad.)
I am proud of our "Daughter-In-Love!" She is a wonderful person and is "Looking out after our Son!" They live in a community of Navy Wives. They do bible study together and are there for each other in many ways. My wife and I will be there for them at a moment's notice. We try not to be overbearing and just suggest ideas. They have went an grown up on us.
Our Blue Candle glows for the people in Las Vegas, what a terrible thing, for Our Sailors, Families, Friends and Babies waiting to be born!

Thanks Storymom! We are excited beyond description. Now the Grandmothers are planning on being there as long as Justine needs them. It's what women do!
