I agree whitwoo. The Blue Candle is a symbol of our loved one away from us. Being in the Military is a little harder than going off to college but still the same. They are away from home and on their own. The candle helps us to deal with their absence and also to bring our attention to their journey. It also gives us a moment to pray or send good thoughts to our Adult/child. I wish the best to your Daughter on her Navy experience.
Our Blue Candle Glows for All SR, Sailors, Families and Friends. Especially for babies yet to be born!
Thanks Storymom. Your quote is right on! Now our Adult/Children make their own decisions, as it should be. We can make "Suggestions!" Different but the same.

Our Children are our greatest accomplishment. We make sure they have more opportunities than we had. That is why we are so proud of them. I told my sons what I just wrote and they just looked at me kinda funny. "Thanks Dad!" They will understand when they have children.
So, that is why we have that empty nest syndrome. They have gone and grown up on us. We are here if they need us.
Bravo Zulu to all you "Mom's!" You are special.

Baker,
Oh I understand the empty nest and I don't like it!!! I am so proud of my sailor son, officer daughter, and veteran daughter and the life they have made for themselves because of the Navy!!! My oldest son is the only one in our family who did not go Navy but he has bad feet and they wouldn't take him anyhow!!!! Let's keep all our blue candles glowing for our sailors!!!
Anna they do have battery operated candles. I use them as backups incase my electric goes out. They can operate for a long time. The Blue Candle works whether it is wax, battery or electric. It truly illuminates the room with love for your Sailor and family. It reminds me why our son is not home. Still suffering from empty nest syndrome. Even at 74. Can we have a "Do Over!"
Our Blue Candle is Glowing for all our Sailors, Families and Friends.
Baker,
I want to do that someday also, but right now we also have limited outlets that run regular electric current. Most lights are 12 volts!!!!! Someday I will be back in a home that isn't on wheels!!!!! But for now, I love traveling this beautiful country we live in!!!!
Hi Anna. The Blue Candle is very important to us. I switched from a real candle to a electric single candle with a blue bulb. We leave in on 24/7. It works well. Everytime we look at the candle it reminds us of our son's duties and responsibilities. Some days are better than others.

Sailor GirlsMom,
I light my blue candle when I know my sailors are going through something big and everytime I see the candle I send up another little prayer!! I know it helped my girl so much when she was in OCS!!
Baker,
I love the idea of putting it by a picture!!! When I have a little more space I'm going to do that. (I live in an RV right now - barely have room for the candle!!!)
