Alicia: love that song on Home for the holidays group page...love it.

"candle in the window"   wish that group would stay active, but it has become quite quiet, huh??  Nice to hear the story of the begining of the blue candles!!

I will be going out this week to look for a blue candle. What a great idea! My SR, although not a sailor and not deployed, will not be home for Christmas, I will light one to remember all those serving in the Navy during this time.

Story behind the blue candle moms... Several years ago some of us were in group called home for the holidays...one mom was upset because her child wasn't coming home.  I popped off and said... I will burn a blue candle for the military  missing from the home tables and many others joined in...that is when we made it a blue candle event.. It has continued and we are all happy to remember those not at thome.  This year my son is ont he Stennis somewhere on the big blue sea and his candle will be burning again this year.  Actually mine burns most of the time but especially on holidays we light his candle when we eat...

Storymom - thank you for your words.  I called the recuiter yesterday and their sytem was down so he couldn't get me his address so I am anxiously waiting for it this morning.  I have letters and cards to go out already, just want to make sure he does receive something when he can get mail.  We are very proud of him and can't wait till we can speak and see him again.  It is hard not able to talk to him everyday.  I don't think I will ever get use to it.  Thanks again and I am so glad I have other moms and NavyforMoms to chat with.

Lbarber....soon you'll receive his box of 'stuff', and THEN the letter with lots of info about graduation-PIR AND about 4 lines from your wonderful son with an address for writing letters.  I wrote everyday, sometimes just a postcard, or sent sections of the Sunday comics or local news in an envelope with a supportive note and lots of love. You might be able to get his valid address earlier if you have a good relationship with his recruiter?  Sometimes they know where their barracks (ship) actually is and can let you know a little sooner.

Congrats to your boy and he will love the NAVY!  (not boot camp, but the NAVY-haha)
