Got it Pat, thanks for clearing that up.

Well, Julie, this month is kind of confusing. Our Sept. group is "Love and Hope from Afghanistan" (2 groups, Air Force that does reports for families on casualties and female Marines) THEN we got a request from Steve Stowe who requested help for wounded warriors in Kandahar. Everyone posted back and forth and decided we couldn't delay sending help. So we are sending stuff to them this month too. Sue is having a packing party for them in Normal on Oct. 9. Now we get to the packing party on Oct. 23, that will be for the NEW group that will be posted around Oct. 1. Clear as Mud???? Pat

Ladies - here is the info from Molly's page on what they are working on shipping out right now. Pat is this the correct info we should work with for gathering up stuff for the packing party?

Well, here he is. This young man would like support for his group, but also wants to be the contact for wounded warriors that come into Kandahar.

Service Branch : USN
Rank/Rate : UTCS
First Name : Steve
Last Name : Stowe
Address : Kandahar Air Field,3 NCR Unit 81383
APO/FPO : FPO
State Code : AE
Zip Code : 095013406
Country : Afghanistan
Where is your unit from : South East US
Contacts : 85,15
End Date : 02/25/2011

Conditions/Requests : Conditions- Very dusty and smells like you know what!
Electricity- Some how lucky to have good 'ol 110V.
We live in fabricated metal buildings packed in tight.
Have small fridge/freezers, very few microwaves around.
I rep for our unit- 3 Naval Construction Regiment from Marietta, Ga.
Most of us are all from predominately southeast, then east coast with a
couple sprinkled in from as far as California.

We are not picky by any means, actually we are in awe of those willing
to support us. What ever people are willing to send we apprecaite
goodies, snacks, coffee and anything else. we also are adopting the
wounded warriors that come through our base for medical care, they could
use way more! They come here with only what is on their backs during
battle. Sometimes loosing some of that. Socks, towels, shower shoes,
sheets would be a great way to make them comfortable again while they
heal before returning to the fight. Also magazines and videos or any
other form of entertainment. If you can help them first they have a
greater need, spread the word, send it to me as point of contact and I
will guarantee swift delivery to their bedsides...

....he just made me cry. So willing to help. "swift delivery to their bedsides" We've got a really, really good kid on our hands, Moms. ;-)

Julie, The group and list will be posted on Molly's around Oct. 1. Sally and I figured that by having the party on the 23rd, it would give us 3 weeks to shop. I'll supply food and beverages. Can't wait to meet everyone!!

Where is the list of what to gather for packing? And what should we bring? Snack stuff or pot luck type dishes?

Hi Pat! Planning to attend! It's about a 2-1/2 hour drive but will be worth it in so many ways! Thanks!!!
Cathy A. Comment by Cathy A. on September 8, 2010 at 9:38am
Pat, It looks good for me attending. Nothing on the calender at this time! How many people do you need? I'm a small groop leader for 7th graders and can see if any of them want to participate for a service project... let me know yes or no (you won't hurt my feelings if you don't want kids there!)
Where can I look for things to bring?
