towermom your choice of the Christmas electric candle is the one I use as well. A N4M member sent me my current electric Blue candle. It is just the ticket for leaving on all night when our sailor's deployment demands 24 hour use.

The candle reflects it's light on a picture of my sailor and his brother a college student. Both are on their life's quest and our prayers go out daily for their good health and happiness. We also give thanks to NavyforMoms for being here for us.

Christina - I use a christmas candle, I just changed the clear bulb to the a blue bulb.  But you can use whatever you would like.  At first I burned the blue candle everyday while he was in bootcamp.  I switched to the christmas candle when I was getting out my decorations when he was in Pensacola and ended up getting the blue bulb.  It is in my kitchen window and I get a lot of questions when people come over or go by.  They thought it was a great idea.

Christina,

Any blue candle is fine.  Walmart has candles that I personally prefer to those more expensive types like Yankee Candle.  I burn a blue candle every day while my son is deployed in Afghanistan.  I burned one every day while my daughter was going through OCS or when she's training.  It's a way for me to offer a prayer every time throughout my day when I see that flame.  Then in the evening I have a simple lamp with a blue bulb.  Last thing I see is the blue light and I pray for the safety of all our sailors as I head off to bed.  There are special candle holders I've seen on this sight that has the Navy logo on it.  I've heard of others who set up a little special place with a picture, a symbol or logo with their candle.  It's whatever your heart needs!!!!  God Bless your sailor and you!!!!
