Number one request on this month's adoption is cards and letters from home.  We are adopting MASH hospitals.  If you can, have your family or a group from work write a letter and include a picture of your group.

Here's the rest of their list.  Need Quart and Gallon ziplock bags (generics ok) to pack in.  Also, how many boxes, customs forms and how much tape do any of you have?  Private message me if you need my phone number.  A church in West Springfield has offered us a room if you think we will need it.  I just need to let the minister know ASAP.  Have you told Drury Inn we need to steal their breakfast room to pack otherwise?

  • Canned or bagged tuna fish and chicken
  • Summer sausage
  • Beef jerky
  • Dried fruits
  • Canned vegetables
  • Coffee & tee
  • Non-dairy creamers
  • Trail mix
  • Crackers

BUMMER Ruth...but I do think that what you are doing is more important!  = ]

I really, really wanted to come, but I got the call this morning that I will be on an Honor Flight the 25th.  The mandatory orientation where I will meet my veteran is on the 20th.  I guess I'm going to have to plan an event in the Quad-Cities sometime.

BRING:  gallon and quart sized ziplock type bags.

Greeting cards, notes or letters already written to include in the boxes of support.

Greeting cards new with envelopes that the troops can mail back home

I'll let you know more as I get the information.

A Packing party is when a bunch of us get together and pack boxes for the month's adoption of deployed troops.  We might have 6 boxes of goodies, we might have 20.  Depends upon how many can show up, bring donations of requested items for that month's adoption, and I can teach anyone who has not packed a flat rate box, how we do it.  Bring gallon and quart ziplock bags to put items in, as those boxes really get tossed around! I'll see if I can find finances for shipping--if not, plan on each box costing about $13.50 each to mail.  Don't go over your budget.  Cards and letters are greatly appreciated!

I'm new to this group, and my son isn't scheduled to leave for GL until June 3rd, but I would love to come meet you ladies!  Can someone please explain to this newbie what a 'packing party' is?  Looking forward to getting to know this group!
