Event Description

To celebrate our wonderful recruits-turned sailors, the Ramada Inn hosts a Meet & Greet Event on the evening prior to their PIR. This Meet & Greet is for all the families and friends of the sailors in the SHIPS and DIV that will have their PIR on Friday, June 4th, 2010.

Please RSVP with the number attending so that I can give the Ramada Inn in Walkegan-Gurnee an estimated head count on Wednesday, June 2nd.

There will be finger foods and drinks, and the event is casual. You do NOT have to be staying at the Ramada Inn to attend; this is the Ramada's way of thanking our sailors for their service!

This will be a wonderful way for us to meet and to share in the excitement, and joy, of each others' sailors! I hope to see you all there!!!

There have been a few questions about the Meet & Greet, so let me post here as well as on the actual RSVP page in the events.

The Meet & Greet Reception is held in the lounge area of the Ramada Inn in Waukegan-Gurnee from 6 - 8 PM. You do NOT have to be staying at the Ramada Inn to attend; this is opened to the public, so all families and friends of our recruits-turned-sailors are included. There are hot hors d'oeuvres available at no cost. When you check in for the event, those who are staying at the Ramada Inn will be issued two tickets for free drinks; those not staying at the Ramada will need to purchase your drinks (water, soda, wine, beer, mixed drinks). The attire is casual, and since many are traveling that day and will arrive close to the time, it's okay to wear whatever you've been traveling in...we just want everyone to attend! :-)

Please on the RSVP site, post the NUMBERS of people in your group coming to the Meet & Greet...I will give a final count to the guy on June 2nd.

I have heard from others that there may be an informal time to introduce ourselves up front with a microphone and tell which Ship and DIV our sailors are in as well as what their rate and destinations will be...I do not know if that will happen, but come prepared in case it does!

One other thing I would suggest. There are so few Moms and Spouses on this site compared to the actual numbers of sailors going through GL...let's all be diligent in telling others we will meet during the M&G at the Ramada, as well as at the actual PIR event, about this website and get more people involved! There are groups for each sailors' destinations, so this site will continue to play an important part of our lives while we have active-duty personnel...so, let's share the news!!! :-)

Just 14 more days to the Meet & Greet, and 15 to our PIR!!! The time is cruising along now!! :-)

There is great possibility that we will attend!!! There will be 3 adults and 1 child. What time do we need to be there? We cannot check into our hotel until 16:00. We are driving from Michigan so jeans and t-shirts is the best we will be dressed. Cannot wait to meet everyone :) 15 more days ladies and we will all be meeting offically!!! Can't wait!!!!
