That is great. I am hoping if my older son decides to go Navy, the two of them can do the same. They are only 18 months apart and butted heads when they were much younger, but these days it is nice to be around the two of them. Especially since we are not arguing over who gets what toy!

What did your sons do for A school?

Kimberly
how neat they are together!! i too am looking at two in. One in Bc now (PIR THIS FRI) and one headed for the Marines this fall. I don't know how i will do it!!
My son graduated Friday 29th. We got Friday, Sataurday & Sunday with him. He left for Charleston 3am on today, Tuesday. His girlfriend got home yesterday, but was on the way to Charelston this morning. He was calling her about 2:30pm saying where you at. They are together now till midnight. He can come out the rest of the week. Starts school on Monday. He is excited more freedom, he's able to have his cell phone. I've talked to him twice today, it's great.

If you go to Great Lakes stay at LaQuinta in Gurnee. Great $80.00 night, indoor swimming pool & breakfast about 15-20 min from base. Near the mall and great food places.
I know Jason's roomate has a lap top. They can have TV, but they have to pay for cable.
WOW, that answers several of my questions. Cell phone, where to stay... Do they get to have a car at A school? Do we need to supply the TV?
My daughter informed me no car unless your a fleet returnee, which is a sailor returning for more training or special permission but rare to get.
They may have changed the rules or perhaps it varies from A school to A school but they used to allow cars at A school. I will be happy to know what the rule is for the A school at Great Lakes as my son will be there for quite some time and I'm ready to move his car out of the garage already!
My sailor just finished GL A School and cars were a no go. When he asked about C School in Cali also told no. When he asked about his permanent duty station he was told okay then.
Greg graduated from A school for IT and since he the top 5 of his class, he was given choices for duty stations. He decided on Norfolk since it was close to home. He spent 3 years on shore duty before he had to sign up for a new duty station. This time he chose the newly formed Riverine Squadron which is at Little Creek in the Norfolk area. They rotate 6 months in Iraq, 12 months stateside. They patrol the inland waterways. Right now he is in Iraq and loves the job he's doing.
Most get the option to come home for a vacation. Some as my daughter did, come home and she worked with her recruiter. Which ment she didn't have to use her vacation time, so she was home and worked with her recruiter durring the week, it was great she was at work durring the day like us but we got to have her for an extra week.
That is exactly what my sailor will be doing this next week before C School. Working with his recruiter. Only charged for the weekend when they don't work anyway.
Nice to hear that everyone's son/daughter has gotten into their "A" school. As of last week, my son was STILL on hold.. a whole month after PIR!!!!!! GGGRRRRRR! He was taking that class to learn how to live on board ship tho, weird shift too... 3-12 pm. Has had a hard time staying awake for that class with them having to get up early in the morning for whatever they make them do. Hope he is in school or going to be this week, haven't heard if he started it yet tho.. maybe by the weekend I will hear something better! If not.. he won't have leave until Jan/Feb at this point.. good thing I am making another trip out to see him in August.........
