Another mom from another forum, (actually the Navy website forum for parents) posted this last night. A guy in her son's division is lonely and has rec'd no mail! Unbelievable! They graduate next week, and battle stations is coming up. If any of you could zip a fast postcard or quick letter thanking this guy for his service, and hard work and dedication. Give him some support and sense of self-pride!
It has to be done fast, in just a day or two because of the graduation next week.
THANKS so much!
PM me and I'll give you his name and address.
Sad, huh?

This breaks my heart.... Do you know what is the story behind this young man?? I will be more than happy to send a note of encouragement to him.

Angie
Don't have much background, this is a favor for another mom. Her son alerted her to this lonely kid in his division who never gets mail. If I find out more....I'll let you all know!
please let us know if they are doing battle stations next week we would never get it to him in time as it take about 10 days but we could try
Yes, Battle Stations next week...but my mail gets there in about 4 days. I'm west Coast. Does Battle Stations take them out of the "mail call" loop? I guess it would if they are not in barracks for 12 hours or something like that? Well, I sent a postcard today, and actually handed it to the letter carrier at the Drop Box as she was emptying it! Many moms have replied, so we can only hope for the best.
PM me if you want his address!
PLease send me info. like I said before, my son is doing battlestations this week -we want to take him along after PIR
send me his name and address and I will get him a card off in the morning! I ALWAYS keep cards for just this occasion! I send them to LOTS of sailors and army kids as well!
Hi kathy Scott...check your Private messages!
You know what mom's this won't help me much my last kid goes thru PIR on Friday, but maybe everyone should be asking their kids when they write the first week or two of letters if someone in their division isn't getting mail, to let you know that way we could cover all of the kids that are going thru bootcamp. Even though I won't have a kid in bootcamp anymore I know I would be happy to send cards if I had names, divisions, etc... And little notes could be put up here to help out writing cards to those kids. I can't believe I didn't think about it earlier. But I do know, my daughter is on an carrier and when I go visit her in Norfolk, I have a lot of her friends telling me they wish their parents would come visit. So it goes even farther than letters in bootcamp. We really should all be trying not to forget those sailor either. My husband and I make sure at holidays and such, we include valentines, christmas cards etc for all of my daughters birthing mates, and close friends. It helps to make sure no one is forgotten, plus its a nice way to keep in touch with her friends also so you know whats going on.
Thank you Barb, that is great advice... these sailors move quickly, and I know the mail delivery system can vary. Sincerely, Catherine
MY son PIR on Friday, need a name. I would love to take him out after PIR with our family. If possible...
