All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose). Still limited to 2 guests maximum.
Specific information on this policy change will be provided in the coming days and weeks.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support.
RESUMING LIVE PIR - 8/13/2021 - ONLY 2 GUESTS ALLOWED

**UPDATE - 2020**
Due to COVID there is no public PIR. The graduations are on Thursday, and the video of the graduation is posted on RTC's FaceBook on Friday at approx 3pm. Please keep in mind that a division may need to complete additional quarantine during training which will delay their graduation.
Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass isno longer needed to drive on to base for parking.
Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.
Hi, my son is Ship 11, Division 169. He called me when he first arrived in Chicago on March 5. I haven't heard from him since. His name is Mark Stuart. From what I have read on this site, I may not hear from him for awhile. I have written several letters and I had my daughter post his address on his myspace page and facebook page so his friends would have it to write him. I also sent him a large manila envelope filled with paper, envelopes, stamps, pens, and everyone's addresses. I wasn't sure if he would have stationary available. But (also from what I have read here) they do have access to stationary and stamps.
It is hard not knowing how he is doing, but it helps to know that others have made it through fine. I am planning on going to his PIR/graduation. I just have no idea when it will be. I'm guessing May 2, but that is only a guess.
I live in Texas, but have been to Chicago a couple of times. When I was there I used the public transportation (L-train) because it was easy to use, cheap, safe, and relatively clean. Hopefully, it goes to Great Lakes?
Please keep us posted if you hear from your recruit and I will do the same!
Good morning Linda, Great to hear from another mom who has a son in the same division as Jeff. Yesterday we received our first letter. We live in the western suburbs of Chicago so it only took 1 day to get here. Bet you get a letter soon. Jeff says it's tough but he is doing fine. I'm guessing that PIR will be May 2 too. I don't know about public transportation to GL but will check it out and let you know. I'm sending Jeff a letter today so will mention Mark to him and maybe they can connect. Seems to me a new friend would really be a good support during this stressful time. Where is Mark going after basic? Jeff is going to "nuke" school in Charleston, SC. I'm hoping he won't be "grad and go". Really great to hear from you, Linda. Talk to you soon. Pat
Hi Sha', Well, your boyfriend and Jeff must be going through the same stuff. I am just anxious to get through the next few weeks and see him. Are you coming up here (we live in Chicago suburbs) for PIR? If you have any questions about the area let me know. Thanks for the reply and keep in touch. Pat
