Hi I got my call at 12 am pacific time this morning. I posted in general discussions under Heartwrenching Bootcamp call then realized there was a bootcamp forum. But I am so in a daze I am not thinking straight. My sons name is Adam. So far all I know is that he is there and its really hurting. Janeen

I have Adams recruiters cell right here but will call tomorrow hopefully he will be in the office. Not sure if they carry the info around with them.
When Adam called from Ohare he said they were not going to be able to eat or sleep till the next night at 10:30 well that has passed so hopefully they are over that first hurrdle, now its all the processing. He was told that they will probablly pull his wisdom teeth when he gets there even if they don't bother him? So that will be something else he has to go through . How is everyone doing today ?
Thanks everyone! I wrote another letter today. I called the recruiter to see if he had the address yet, but he never called me back. I will try again on Monday. I am hoping maybe i will get a call on Sunday since i never got the i am here call...we'll see :)
Hi, I'm Shannon... i am not a navy mother but a wife... my husband, of 10 years, decided to join, and now i feel lost w/o him...
I also got the phone call last night at midnight. I was scared to death I would miss it so I slept with the phone on my pillow... He said the yelling wasn't too bad yet but he sounded pretty nervous. He said that there next phone call was scheduled for 2 weeks, as long as no one messed up.
I'm trying to keep it all together for our kids, but it just feels so empty in the house.
Hi Shannon,
Hubby , son, daughter, whatever we all are feeling kinda lost , actually thats a good word I keep walking around in circles it seems. So we can do it together Hang in there! Janeen
Hi Shannon, I am intrigued. Why did your husband decide to join? Oh, I am Cyndi. My son got there on the 16th. My call came early evening.
it is something that he has always wanted to do, and I guess he just realized that his time was running out, age wise... also, he is a big supporter of the effort in Iraq and wanted to do more than just sit around talking about it, i guess... It came as a shock to me... I thought i was going to kill him at first! lol... but then i knew that he had to follow his dream, and I am so proud of him for it... How are you doing with this all???
We got the same midnight phone call. I also was relieved that things were fine but had so many questions. It is so hard not to know is going on with Josh as we have always been so close. Still a basketcase as well. See his clothes in the dryer and I cry. Hear a song he liked on the radio and I cry. I know this will get better though. Josh is my oldest and the first to leave the nest so this is especially hard.
I feel like such a baby, being the only wife on here, but there aren't really any good "active" sites out there for wives... and, well I am a mom to a 10 yr old who now wants to follow in his daddy's footsteps, so... it looks like in the future, i might just be a navy mom too... but for now, i'm just a navy wife... and we're only 31... too old to feel so lost, but too young to feel so old... i'm sorry, ladies, but you're just going to have to put up w/ me... lol. It's just that Dustin and I were high school sweethearts, have been married for 10 yrs, and we've never been apart for more than 3 nights... so it's soooo weird and strange...
but in another way, i know that what i am going thru now is nothing like what you all are feeling for your babies...
the amazing thing about this site is that there is a place for all of us mothers and wives ( or wife!) to come together and support each other thru this time... its crazy how sad we all feel, yet, at the same time feel so elated for them...
Dublin,
Your not a baby, your missing a loved one. That has to be very hard for you and your son. My husband left the day before my son did and he will be gone for at least 12 more days fighting fires, so i am worried about him and did not have him here to lean on when my son left. It was very hard to remain strong for the kids here. I know we can do it. This site is great for support. Talk with you soon :)
Thank you Christy! I just have to keep thinking of us mothers and wives as "heroes on the home front"... we need to be strong so that they are strong!
Wow... so you have had to deal w/ your son leaving w/o your husband there, and plus, your husband is out there risking his life as well... God bless you... It helps so much to know that there are other women out there in similar situations.
It's crazy... there are moments when i feel so strong, and other moments that I'm just crumbling... Maybe you feel the same, i dont know... I'm sure it will get better with time... You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers...
Shannon,
Thanks! :) I will keep your family in my prayers as well. Yeah i do feel the way you do, i can be totally fine and then bam, sadness takes over. It's not fun being at work or somewhere in public and the tears start. People probably think i am nuts...lol
Wanted to say that this site is a Godsend. I feel like I know so many of you already. My son has only been at Great Lakes since July 16th, and I had no idea how hard it would hit for him to be gone. I am so glad to have found many who can actually say, "I feel your pain." Thanks! Cyndi
