We are 120 mi NW of Houston, near College Station. Expecting lots of wind and rain, but we have done all we can and lay the rest in God's Hands. Just hoping that all goes well. My son's PIR is on the 26th. I got a letter from him yesterday, stating he had done so well on a test that he will be given a 30 minute call. I just hope his call comes while we still have service. I don't want him worrying about us when he has so much else going on.
Okay, I am in West Palm Beach and I have a palm tree in my pool from the OUTER BANDS from Cuba, so these winds are really bad. My prayers are with you all over in Texas!!
Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Be safe and stay in touch when you can.
Thank you all for your prayers. We are in Houston and expect lots of wind and rain. I was here during Carla (as a little girl of course), Alicia and everything in between. All is secured, flood insurance paid (thank goodness) and now we are just praying for all to be safe.
Hey everyone, sending prayers your way from the quiet and sunny (yes, I said SUNNY) Pacific NW. We're ready to receive if anyone wants to take an impromptu vacation! Ya know, I always watched these events on the news from afar and thought what a shame to have to deal with all that, can't imagine and felt horrible for the Katrina victims. But, it never really touched me personally, I went on about my business. Well, I'm having trouble getting about the business of the day because I keep running back to my TV and the Computer to check in on all my N4M friends. Now...it's personal, HEY IKE, leave my Navy Sisters ALONE!!!

PLEASE ladies, err on the side of comfort and caution and be safe! For heaven's sakes, don't hide in a basement or get trapped in a high rise hotel. I don't want to see footage of you being rescued from your rooftops! Over 100 years ago, I believe Galveston was the site of the worst national (Hurricane) disaster in our nations' history! Hoping that Houston and the surrounding areas are spared from repeating history. Susie, I'm also praying you get that call! You're right, the recruits have enough to focus on without being worried about their families. Do check in as you all can and let the rest of us know where you are and that you're o.k. May God's protection be upon you.
haha - Angie - most of us don't have basements in Southeast Texas. Dena said she did - but I bet it was a tornado shelter. Basements in our area would stay full of water!!!
Please pray for the 22 men that are stranded on a freighter right in Ike's path. They lost the engines 90 miles south of Galveston.
I will be praying for all in Ikes path. My brother is right in the Galvinstin area, just outside of Clearwater. He feels he's safe from the surge because he is on higher ground, but I'm still nervious for him and any others who choose not to evacuate. His girlfriend left a few days ago. He works at a Waterford Harbor Marina right in Galvinstin and has to still shut down power and a few other items to check before the storm is due to hit late tonight early AM.
God Bless all who are affected and we'll pray the damage and distruction will be minimal at best. Also to those on the freighter. May they ride the storm safely.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Thanks everyone, I'm in Houston and we are already starting to experience some kind of heavy winds...Galveston's wall by the coast is already under water, and Ike is still expected to hit tonight. It hasn't even started raining and it's already bad. Hope everything is good for everyone. I have noticed that this time the government does have everything well planned. I'll get back to all of you as soon as I can with any updates. God Bless!
Yuvia please be safe and let us know how your doing.here in kansas were suppose to get some heavy rain and posible thunderstorms thru the weekend.but nothing like your going thru.my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Thanks, you too Judy!
