My son left for boot camp on 11-14-11 and it was much sadder than I thought....I self diagnosed myself with "Maternal Separation Anxiety" LOL.  I received the "I'm here" call and that helped a little but these feelings were unexpected and I am still trying to adjust to my only son being away.  Are there any mom's with sailors who left on 11-14-11?

I heard you can't give them anything at PIR because they are still technically at boot camp until they get processed for A school.  I did hear another mom say that once they get processed for A School (if in Great Lakes that afternoon) you can give it to them.  If attending school out of state, you can meet up and wait with them at the airport and give it to them then.

My son left on the same date too.  I can totally relate to how you feel.  His dad and I are still trying to adjust but, it is not easy. Maybe our sons are together.

We got "the box" today. So glad I knew about it in advance. I opened the box and just smelled his clothes. Can not wait til I get the form letter so I can send out letters.

it is definitely an adjustment...
That would be good....I really hope they have a good group and they be there for eachother.

My son left for boot camp on Monday, 11/14. I did get that phone call saying I got here safely and will probably send a postcard and/or phone call in 3 weeks.  Today I received "the box" minus the boy, it was hard going thru his things.  All I can think about since then is how he is doing.  Hoping he's coping with the training.  Missing my son and can't wait to hear from him.

I just joined the group PIR 1/6/12...or something like that.
This site really helps....it prepares you for everything.
I know exactly how you feel....we can only hope they are adjusting just as we are.
I pray they are being strong...and doing really good because I kno they are going to push them to the max!
Faith has to be strong now....we will get through this....and celebrate 1-6-12.

There is a 1-13-12 group that was just formed today too...http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir01132012...

Our sons' left for bootcamp on the same date so is the PIR date 1/6/12 or 1/13/12? If you know that would be great I just want to make sure I join the correct PIR group. I am praying for all of our kids as they go through this.  Hoping that they are there for each other.

I am not sure now, after reading all the posts...so I am just going to wait for the letter that should be here next week. I am praying for them as well....hoping they are learning to be 1.

PIR date will depend on their division.  Will need the form letter for that (or get from the recruiter).  My son left on 11/8 and is in Div 036, which graduates 1/6/12.  Div 037 and up (to a point) will graduate 1/13.  There were some that departed on 11/8 that are in Div 037, so even though they shipped the same day they are graduating at different times.  Hope this helps.

Will do thanks....

Thanks so much for the info.

My son left for BC on 11/15. I never got the phone call, I haven't received the box or the form letter.  :(  I am a Navy vet so I am not worried about what is going on IN BC, but I want to know some details.
