I was just wondering if any of you have son's/daughter's leaving right after boot camp to the Nuclear Power Training School in South Carolina?  The only posts I find on this site are from 2013 and dating back as far as 2008.  My son is going directly into the Nuke program right after his PIR on 11/14/14 and I was wondering if anyone else has the same situation?  Thanks!!

By counting 9 Fridays, PIR is most likely going to be Wednesday, 11/26/2014. If there were extra recruits last week, then yes, it is possible that his PIR could be 12/05/2014.

Hi Fordfamily,

Yes I have heard from my son a couple times and he is doing fine.  He is home sick (especially missing his girlfriend) and had a small cold but he was good. He arrived on Sept. 19th so that is why I have talked to him.  You will get the letter soon and he may be able to call before 3 weeks.  Mine called after only 2 weeks.  He is an extremely smart and very athletic young man so this program is not real difficult for him.  He didn't complain about it but he is ready to graduate and move on to his Nuke program.  You know I have read that they may be attending a school in New York first then over to SC.  Not sure if that is for all of them but that is what I was told.  I guess we will wait to hear from them and find out if they have any orders yet.  Can't wait to hear from him again, even though I have trouble composing my self.  I tend to start out strong and then I start to cry....ugghhh!  Keep me updated on your son and I will do the same.  Never know they could be roommates in school.  ;-)

"A" School is in SC and some go to NY for Prototype and some stay in SC for all of the training.

Rhonda,

I'm happy to hear that your son is doing well.  I bet my son is missing his girlfriend too.  I want him to miss me.  LOL!!  That gives me something to look forward to.  I hope he calls me soon.  His recruiter told me to call tomorrow and he should have his address and PIR date.  I'm thinking it's either Nov. 26 or Dec 5th.  I can't wait to watch him graduate.  The tears will be flowing some more.  Your son sounds just like mine.  He's very smart and worked out almost 7 days of week.  He looked great when he left.  I'm just afraid he loses weight and he can't afford to. I never heard about the school in New York.  I tend to think they will be in SC.  I know I will cry when he calls.  I promise myself that I won't cry but that doesn't work.  We are moms and earn the right to cry for our boys.

Take care and I will keep you and your son in my prayers.

Denise

Denise - hopefully you have joined the Nuke Mom's group! You will find lots of valuable info there.

A school and Power school are both in Goose Creek, SC.  Prototype can be in either SC or Ballston Spa, NY.  My son is currently in Ballston Spa.....

Hang in there!

Hi B'sNukeMom,

I have joined the Nuke Mom's group.  I'm just trying to get through boot camp first.  Baby steps...  I'm missing my son so much and hope he is doing well. Did your son go directly to Ballston Spa, NY from boot camp?  Will he be there the entire time or eventually head to SC?  New York would a lot closer if we chose to visit.

Best wishes and prayers to you and your son.

Denise

No they all go to SC first. This is where everyone does both A school & Power school. Prototype can be in either SC or NY. My son requested NY & he got it. He's been there now since January. He's over halfway through proto now and he's been in 2 years this month! So close to being done LOL.

My son shipped 10/8/14. His PIR date is 12/5/14 . He is in ship 12 div 035. He will be going to Nuke school also.

My son arrived at GL on October 2nd.  He is leaving right after PIR for nuke school too.  I'm still waiting for my son's letter.  I received his box on 10/9.  I am waiting to hear if his PIR is 11/26 or 12/5.

kms1966, check your My Page.

My sons ship date was 10/8/14. His PIR per his recruiter is 12/5/14. He is in ship 12 div 035. He will also be going to Nuke school.
