Our son is in Corpus now, has been there since early April.  I'm wondering if there are any moms out there whose kids are in approximately the same stage?  How's it going for them?

Wow, how cool. It seems to be dragging but I can tell you the people assigned to Milton, for the most part, are dragging at a much slower pace. Has your son had his first solo yet?

no. he sometimes goes 2 weeks between flights. its hard on him to feel like he is keeping current. has your son soloed?

Yes, he soloed almost 4 weeks ago.  He is waiting to do his 2nd solo since last Friday (weather).  If he doesn't go today he will need to do another check ride.  It can be frustrating waiting to get your flights done, especially before the first solo.  It's easy to feel like you're not keeping current in the beginning.  They gain a lot of confidence once they solo and your son will feel a lot better after that.

My son tells me they are working to get instructors trained on the T-6 and that's the reason for the backup. My son's group was only the second group training on the T-6. If your son goes more than 10 days between flights he must get an extra flight. The good part of that is more practice time for him.

Nancy - VT 28 Rangers

Just found out that my son will also be in VT 28 Rangers also.

A warning for those living on the island - My son lives off Commodores Dr & his uncle lives a couple blocks from him. Twice in recent months his uncle has noticed things missing from his locked truck. The other day a boat and trailer were stolen down the street from his uncle. There was a good lock on the hitch receiver but the thieves took the front of the trailer off and left it behind. Tell your LOs not to leave anything of value in the vehicle (locked or not) or outside.
