In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

He said he didn't know why they did it, they had just come back from Muster when they left? I specifically asked him because I know he has watch duty and I had heard that they beat the recruits up pretty bad. I was hoping it wasn't him!

No, the recruits that left didn't beat anyone up. I know that for a fact.

I read a post that someone had posted that they had beat the watch recruits. Wonder what happened to them?

They didn't beat the watch recruits I promise you that. Where did you read that? I'd like to see what they said.

I just read it. Not true. I know the RDC's were trying to scare all of the other recruits so no one would get the stupid idea into their heads.
If they would have beaten kids up, they definately wouldn't have offered them a slap on the wrist and a chance to go right back into their division no questions asked.

That is good to know. I think sometimes things get lost in translation. These sites move pretty fast and its hard to keep up with what's going on sometimes. I'm just glad that all of our recruits are okay! I just want these next four weeks to go by fast so I can see him!

I can tell you the whole story right now.
My husband was one of the ones who left in DIV 275. He hurt his knee and was put on bedrest until it was better and wasn't even allowed to get up to pee most of the times. He'd get yelled at if he put a foot out of his rack. They had mentioned giving him a medical seperation but would stick him in holding for two-three weeks without a phonecall or letter home. He tried talking to the RDC's and one of them told him he was there on his own terms and he could just leave and nobody would stop him. (obviously the RDC wasn't serious but my husband just didn't use his head) So my husband and this other kid were talking and messing around about leaving and then decided to actually do it. They left before chow at about 6:10pm and left. They did NOT, I repeat, did NOT beat anyone up on the way out. All the did was walk right out of the gates. A few higher ups even seen them leaving but no one dragged them back. My husband made it on a train home and right when he got back home we went straight to his recruiters office, got in touch with Great Lakes and the Cheif and let them know we were driving back to Great Lakes to bring him back because he knew he was wrong and would come back and do things the right way. We drove him back and when he got there they put him in seperations and they didn't yell at him or anything. They had him talk to a cousnelor and then he went to legal and they offered him a slap on the wrist and a chance to go back to his ship/div and he declined so he waited about a week and a half and he is now home

I'm sure it will go by fast. What was your sons name? My husband is interested to see if he knew him in the short week he was with this division.

Justine - I sent you a friend invite so I can send a private message. I can't post his name on here. I hope your husband is doing better. I know how hard it is for them to be away from family. My son couldn't wait to leave and now all he talks about his being home and watching TV with us - the old folks! LOL

Hello! My son is on this ship /division & will be graduating on the 13th of August. I am in South Florida & I am doing everything in my power to make it to his graduation. He left here on June 21st for bootcamp & on June 24th I welcomed his baby sister into this world. It's tough right now since I'm not working & the baby being so young. BUT like I said, I am doing everything in my power to get there so he can meet his baby sister (and see his other sister & brother, who are 8 & 10)! Like you I got a few words at the bottom of the info letter... he said he hates that place :( I guess that's why they call it bootcamp, right? Besides being 19, that's a real wake-up call!
