Carol....I know they get 4 total invites...so hopefully you will all be able to go.  I can imagine how upsetting it would be to miss that!  My son is the oldest (19) of my 3 boys, so it will be my husband, myself and his two brothers.  There is other family that would also like to go, and although I think anyone can go with the *hopes* of getting a seat if there is any extra room, each recruit is only guaranteed 4 guests.  We haven't broken that news to the rest of the family yet.  Best wishes to you and your son, too!

My son is on the same ship!!! Have you received a call yet? I thought for certain yesterday...but the nothing.

I recieved the box yesterday and the form letter today from my recruit.  PIR will be July 22 :)

My son left the 23rd and I got his number from his recruiter a week later.  I think it took a little longer because of the holiday weekend.  Call his recruiter!  Start writing him letters, that's what I did.  The hardest part is not being able to talk to him.  I haven't gotten a letter yet or a call besides the 30 second one the night of his arrival.  He said he would be able to call in 3 weeks.  I decided to try and get healthy and do my bootcamp at home, that kind of helps a little.  Hang in there, your not alone:)!

My son left on May 24. He is in Div 234, I received the letter but haven't gotten a call yet. Has anyone else gotten a call whose SR left around that time?

Kathleen

My daughter left on May 25th.  She is in division 937.   Kathleen, I am surprised you did not get a call.  We got our call that night and 2 letters her 2nd week.  Hang in there!

Hello, my son called his fiance yesterday.  He left on May 25th, PIR is 7/22...no letters yet but he did say that they are on the way!

I haven't gotten a call or a letter.  I have written him every single day and am running out of things to say, it's a very one sided conversation:).  I go to the mailbox with hope every day and nothing:(.  I hope he didn't get in trouble or something and can't write.  He left the 23rd so it has been over 20 days.  He is in Ship 11 Div 234.
Thanks for the encouragement and explanations.  I try to be positive in every card. I have been sending him newspaper clippings of the NBA playoffs, hope I am aloud to do that.  I just found out my dad (my sons grandpa) has prostate cancer and am not going to mention it to him during bootcamp.  No need for extra stress.  Can't wait to hear from him and can't wait to see him at graduation!
My son left out of Tampa. He is in Ship 2, Div 234 with a PIR of 7/22/11.  It is nice to see others whose child is in his ship/division. It would be very helpful to get/share as much info as possible to keep up with their life at bootcamp.  I did get to answer his 2:19am call on 5/26 and God knows I needed to hear his voice.  That was a surprise as I did not expect to hear from him.  We rec'd the form letter and his box already but no letter yet.  Hopefully as lemonelephant stated above we'll get a surprise phone call after the 3rd week - just in time for Father's Day.
My son also left from Tampa,  May 24th.  ship 11 div 234.  I got the call, the box and form letter came, but no letter from him ...yet, maybe this week.   Alot of us are still...waiting....
