OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Are Nuke school and the NUPOC program the same thing?
Is it different if you're enlisted or an officer?
My boyfriend is in OCS for NUPOC subs, and so he has power school, prototype and sub school. What is nuke school exactly? Is it power school?
And is the order for NUPOC always power school, prototype, then sub school or can it sometimes be power, sub, and prototype?
Because I saw some people who were married writing that their husbands would be living on base during nuke school, but I know that my boyfriend will be O1 and be able to live off base for school. Is this because he's an officer, or because he's in a different program?
He already has a BS and Master's if that helps.

NUPOC is the program that his OCS is under.
Nuke School is NNPTC (Naval Nuclear Power Training Command) NPS (Nuclear Power School)
It is about 6 months long depending on if he'll have to take "pre-school" which will happen if he has been out of school for a while, or has a non-engineering degree.
The difference between Officer NPS and Enlisted NPS is the level of math and how the subjects are presented. That is all that I (or anyone else) can say about it.
You can live either on base in base housing which will be on lower base in the E-7 thru O-3 housing area. The number of rooms will be dependent on your family size. If you have no children then you will likely be in a 2 bedroom duplex style house.
You can choose to live off base, but I recommend that you talk to FFSC (fleet and family support center) in Goose Creek before you make that decision, as there are some areas that are not so good to live in and they can discuss the traffic in the area because your husband may be sitting in an hour's worth of traffic on his way in if he lives in Mount Pleasant.
The level of his education has no bearing on what he will do in NPS.
He will have to complete NPS then he will go another 6 months to NPTU (Nuclear Prototype Training Unit) in Charleston, SC or Ballston Spa, NY to train on an operating plant. Then he will go to Submarine school in Groton, CT for about 8 weeks. Then he will go to a Sub out of Bangor, San Diego, Hawaii, Guam, Groton, Norfolk or Kings Bay where it will take him around a year to qualify. Then he will go to PNEO school for 12 weeks at around his 18 month to 24 month point onboard.

Is a great and very resourceful question...Iam starting to see clearly..remembering my son mentioning to his DAD about that school first on that "six months" -- that six months = that still at Great Lakes, Illinois then, after six months he goes to Charleston (?) : My son says he is going for that "Nuke school" -- recently at 5th week SRs Boot camp 2017 Dec ongoing towards this new year 2018.

PedAlQueen - for nuke school he will go straight to Goose Creek, SC after boot camp. There they do both A school and power school. Prototype can be either in SC or Ballston Spa, NY. The whole process takes about 2 years.
