For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Assigned to Laurdry Duty
We got the first letter today!!! He said he and another recruit are assigned to laundry duty. They are washing 75 recruits clothes. Is this a good job? He also said he was PO assigned to Laundry.. is that Petty Officer? Any info. will help. Thanks! Laura

They're assigned different jobs at different times. My son was a medical yeoman for a couple of weeks (lots of paperwork, which he hated). Well, PO usually stands for Petty Officer but in boot camp it's only a temporary rank. He won't make real Petty Officer for quite a while after he gets done with all his training.

Actually, they aren't washing the clothes themselves. they gather them up, sort and send them out, then sort and return them when the clothes come back. Tedious job, but at least every single item has a name or initials on it. Socks are in a net bag, pinned closed, and the bag has the recruit's name on it.

Actually some laundry can be done "in house" I know some things were sent to the nex, some were washed in the compartment.

I was the Education PO in boot camp, they found out I had a couple years of college. I got to track test results, and tutored the girls who weren't doing well. Broke my heart when we lost our first three shipmates because they simply could not pass one of the written tests (Naval history). They were set back into another company for a final attempt, but I never found out of they made it or not.
I didn't promote any faster, I was already in the AECF program and was going to advance as much as possible out of boot camp. But yes, if they are at E-1, they could possibly be bumped up for exceptional performance to E-2 upon graduation. Up to E-3 is generally by contract.
