OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

********BATTLESTATIONS******
This is the final test for your SRs. They will be tested on all that they have learned and any situations they might encounter when deployed on a ship. It is a 12-hour overnight drill. They go to the Disney-created USS Trayer ship (very realistic!) in the evening and finish up with their capping ceremony the next morning. There they trade their Recruit caps for their Sailor caps...and they are then SAILORS! Later that afternoon, the ladies on here will get the much-anticipated "I'm a Sailor" call. Teamwork is the name of the game. They are divided into smaller groups to go through BattleStations and are evaluated as a team as well as individuals. This is what a chief said about BattleStations: 150-300 SRs go through a night, 3-10 of those may fail and be given another opportunity to go through before PIR, teamwork is the key, and if all SRs keep their mouths shut, listen and focus, and work as a team...they should pass.
The divisions will go through with their brother divisions. Up to 4 divisions can go through a night, sometimes just 2 or 3 go. If a 900 division or 800 division tags on to 2 brother divisions, that would be 3 divisions going through. They start with the lowest numbered divisions going through first and move up. 800 and 900 divisions are random, or if they happen to have a 800 or 900 brother division (rare), they go with them. They can start on Wed (although rare) or Thur nights a week before PIR. They do not do them on Fri or Sat nights because of Captains Cup on Saturday--a fun athletic competition for all divisions in the PIR group. They then can resume BattleStations Sun-Wed nights, but may not need all of those nights depending on the size of the PIR group. If an SR has to repeat BattleStations, he/she will go with another division's group. Or if an SR has not passed all tests prior to his/her division's BattleStations night, he/she will continue taking that test until he/she passes and then join another division for BattleStations. Some can even go as late as Thurs night before PIR, with the divisions from the next PIR group. They then will be at PIR in uniform as a new sailor, but in the balcony, too tired to march after being up all night.
The "I'm as Sailor" calls usually start around 2 pm GL time and go into the early evening, but they can start earlier. So we advise all to have phones very close by that day...even when in the bathroom or checking the mail. Hopefully bosses will be understanding on the "I'm a Sailor" call day! When you hear from your sailor, ask if all in his/her division passed and post on the board for others to see. Some may not receive their phone call that day...because their SR may have watch...and would like to read this info.

My husband wrote to me on Tuesday (sorry it's taken me a bit to tell you guys) and said that their BS are on the Tues/Wed before graduation. So that would be the 19th & 20th.

I am disappointed that I did not find the above site till just last night as it was a very informative power point presentation on what our SR are going through their entire time in BC. The Battlestation information was really neat. I hope everyone takes the time to look at this. My SR is in Div 923 and I think they are the last to find out anything. We seem to be the last in mail and phone calls, but I do think it will be fun seeing them perform in 12 days

linda, if it makes you feel any better...I just posted the present link today....Craig had changed it. So you really came in right on time! I try to have the BattleStations info posted within the last month of bootcamp on the different PIR groups, and always note on the board that it's there. But sometimes people overlook the discussions. That is why it is a good idea for everyone to cruise through the discussions every now and then. Glad you found it!

Just got a date for Div 923- one of the SRs wrote to their mom that it will be Sun/Monday- so 4/17-4/18 wih Div 143/144.

Received a letter today from my SR and she said expect the "I am a sailor call" on Wednesday the 20th. She is in DIV 147. Said she is ready to be done and asked me to send her a stick of gum and tape some skilttles to a letter..she really misses candy! I laughed and almost cried! She said she has gained 9 pounds which is great because she was thin. This letter made my day/week...I am so anxious for next week....come on Friday, April 22nd. Husband is writing a letter now and cut a piece of gum in half to put in the letter.....
