This is the final test for the recruits before they become sailors.  It is an overnight drill held on a ship replica made by Disney, so it is very realistic....the recruits face every challenge that they could have when deployed on a ship.  It is a culmination of all that they have learned during bootcamp. Each division goes through with its brother division.  Up to 4 divisions can go through a night (usually 2 sets of brother divisions, but sometimes a 900 and 800 division tag onto 2 brother divisions).  But less can go also.

At the conclusion of BattleStations, there is a capping ceremony.  The recruits are now sailors!  This is actually their graduation ceremony.  They have chores and things to do that day before making the "I'm a Sailor" call...so calls normally don't come in until starting around 2 pm GL time and can go through into early evening.

Since this is a smaller PIR group, they may not start BattleStations until PIR week.  But they could start them the Thurs. night a week before, continuing Sun-Wed if all of those nights are needed (most likely not in this case).  Your recruits will know when their division is scheduled for BattleStations.  So ask and then please post below so that we can get a schedule started on this page.

Your brother divisions are:

53+54, 55+56, 57+58

910 will tag on to 2 brother divisions or will go alone.

****BattleStations Schedule*****(this is the date of the late evening that they start--they finish the next morning)

Thurs, Jan. 20th/Fri Jan 21st     Div 53, 54

Sun,   Jan 23rd/Mon, Jan 24th   Div 55, 56 (but 55 couldn't make calls unti Tuesday)

Mon,  Jan. 24th/Tues, Jan 25th  Div 57, 58, 910

Thanks, Penny.  That's what I had on the schedule so that's good!

My son didn’t sound real sure about when BattleStations would take place…so BattleStations on Monday the 24th is probably correct, especially given that div 57 and 58 go on the 24th.

Ok, Jill...thanks.  I have asked on the main board if anyone has different dates.  We will leave it as is for now.
This also means that the first 4 divisions get to have the luxury of Ricky Heaven many days ahead of 057, 058 and 910... lucky ducks !!!!
My sons PIR is 1/28/2011 as well and I have been fortunate enough to be introduced to the creative director behind Battle Stations 21. Great guy...if you want more info there are pictures and links to articles on his website http://www.rickbluhm.com/portfolio%20pages/BS21.html    By the way don't send any of this to your recruit. My son got  a bunch of IT and threatened with being asmo'd when I made that mistake. I guess when the Navy's website says send them articles and newspaper clippings...they don't mean anything about the Navy. Anyway, enjoy the info...it is a big moment for our recruits.
gvnavydad - That was so great!  Thanks for sharing,
Hi all! My husband is in Ship 4 Div 054...got a call from him not too long ago that said his battlestations would be ran early. His division and his brother division finished all of thier stuff early. So he said it might be ran Tuesday or Wednesday of this week! I am so excited and cannot wait to get to see him for friday as he is grad and go! He also said that most of the divisions there are grad and go because they went through all of the holidays......
punkinbaby:  Normally the PIR group before you is doing BattleStations Tues and Wed of their PIR week, but this week, 1/21 isn't.  Looks like they will finish up their groups in the morning.  So although they normally don't start the next PIR group's BattleStations until Thurs night, it is possible that maybe there is an exception this week for some divisions according to what your hubby said?  If 54 goes, so does 53 as they are brother divisions/training partners.  So we'll see.  Unless you get a call before then from you hubby confirming dates, sounds like everyone will have to be ready starting Wed going through Friday just in case the I'm a Sailor phone calls come in during that time.
Yeah I am not totally sure but when he called me on the 6th, J said on the schedule board battlestations was 13 days away, so I am counting from the next day.....I just hope they get to do them soon! Is it a pass or fail? We didnt have this when I went through boot camp, so I am going just off of what I keep hearing. Is it a division pass or fail or individual?
It is pass or fail.  And they are judged in "small groups/teams" and individually.  So if all individuals are doing badly enough as a team, they may all fail...but that is rare.  Majority make it through the first time...those who don't get to go through again. Even the night before PIR...and then they are in uniform, but "drowsy" in the balcony!  But they are sailors!  HOOYAH!
Will they still get a call if they fail it, so that we know what is going on? And do alot of people fail it? So far, Jason said they are in the running for Hall of Fame, so I don't anticipate them failing it, but you never know!
No, very few fail.  Not sure if they would get to call...they would have to wait at least one night and then go again.  Since his divsion goes Thurs a week before PIR, he would be able to retest early the next week.  No problem.  But don't worry...think positively!  He will be calling you on Fri as a sailor!
