This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During the 12 hour overnight drill, they encounter every situation that they might face when deployed on a ship.  It is a night of adrenaline and focus.

Up to 4 divisions can go at once, but sometimes only 2 or 3 go.  Brother divisions go together.  800 and 900 divisions go randomly.  They start with the lowest numbered divisions and move up.  They can start on the Thursday night, a week before PIR.  They skip Fri and Sat nights because of Captains Cup on Saturday (athletic competition between divisions...fun for them!).  They can resume BattleStations Sun-Wed nights during PIR week. Something a Chief said about Battlestations:

150-300 SRs go at a time, 3-10 of them will fail and have to repeat it, the most important thing is TEAMWORK. If the SRs keep their mouths shut, listen, and work as a team, they should pass.

The brother divisions in this PIR group are:

63+64, 65+66, 67+68, 69+70, 71+72, 73+74

804

912

"I'm a Sailor" phone calls will start to come in the day they finish, usually starting around 2 pm GL time and going into the evening.  They may need to complete PIR practice first so be patient.  Some may have watch and won't call until the next day.

When you get a BattleStations date from your recruit, post it here and I will add it to the schedule.

HOOYAH!

*****BattleStations Schedule******(they start late at night and continue through the next morning which is why there are 2 dates posted)

We burn the blue candles in support of the recruits.  It is kind of a Navy tradition...they are burned for different reasons for those in the Navy...on deployment, coming home, etc.  But as support for our recruits going through BattleStations, we like to burn them as a reminder of how much we are thinking of them and supporting them.
When my SR called me on Tuesday I did ask him about BattleStations and he said they didn't know when they were going yet. Live Weapons start 1/18 he said for his division.
Cant wait
I was just thinking about something my daughter said to my when she called the other day. She said they will be done 5-6 days before the actual graduation day while waiting on the other divisions. She never said anything about the battlestations, but I'm sure that's what she meant........damn, I wish she would call!!

Her division could be going either Sunday night or Monday night during PIR week.  Let me know if you hear exactly.

wow, my SR is in div 068 and since they are brother divisions that means that maybe I'll get the "I'm a Sailor call" that week of PIR??? That would be sooo awesome. My SR didn't say anything about bs when I got his call last week, so I'll write today and ask again. I've found it's taking about 7-10 days before he receives my letters. So I better get writing. Remember, Monday 1-17 is a holiday, so unfortunately no mail going in or out. Yuck.
Yes, those divisions will be going between Sunday-Wed night of PIR week.  It won't be much longer for you all to have your sailors!
I have to say this sounds like a lot of fun!  A time they will look back on and enjoy reliving.
I'm gonna go buy some Blue Candles real soon!!  Go Div.069!   Go, All Div. for PIR 2-11-11 !!!  I just know our recruits are going to do Great!
According to my SR, ship 11 DIV 065 is doing their BS on 02/02.
In talking to my SR today, he believes they are doing BS on 2/4. He said he might be wrong, but he believes that's what they were told.

momofms: I'm thinking that maybe he meant starting the night of 2/3 and finishing 2/4.  I'm going to put that up top for now.  According to Postal 1, looks like they could be starting BattleStations on Wed night instead of Thurs that week....so I'm going to put some "tentative dates" up top.  Let me know if you hear differently!
