For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Being promoted? (Ship 12 Division 138)
Today I got my first letters from my boyfriend since he has been in bootcamp. (still giddy over it! :) ) In the letters he mentioned that he got promoted. He didn't really explain much what that meant. He has been writing the letters before he goes to bed and by the way he wrote, I can tell he hasn't been getting much sleep, haha. So I'm not surprised he didn't really go into detail. I was just wondering if any of you ladies knew what being promoted is? I didn't think you could actually make rank while in bootcamp, but he also mentioned him being a section leader and being in charge of 15-20 people in his barracks, so could that be what he meant? It's not a huge deal, I'm just curious. :)

Also, officially they are only allowed to write on Sundays. If he is caught writing at night in his rack, he can potentially get in trouble. The entire division could lose their letter writing privileges for a week.
All it takes is one person with a loved one in that division to read your post, mention it to their recruit in a letter and word gets out to the RDC... and the entire division will be in hot water over the actions of one man. I know you love your letters, but he shouldn't be doing it the wrong way.
Some outstanding recruits can be chosen to advance from E-1 to E-2 while in boot camp. That's being promoted. These are the go-getters, who perform well on everything, and don't get into trouble.
The section leader thing is usual, there are several of them. It is how they learn leadership, and practice for being in the fleet. There will always be duty sections throughout his enlistment. The boot camp position won't have any meaning once he graduates, other than he has experience.

I knew they were only allowed Sundays but I didn't know writing after taps would have that bad of a consequence. I'll mention that in one of my letters to him, I don't want other recruits to not be able to write.
