Hi Tatbama. My son left on 1/25 so I'm right there with you sister. I was a total mess on Monday during swearing in but every day since seems to have gotten a little bit easier. I still can't go in his room quite yet. I'm really excited to hear when PIR is so i can start planning a fun weekend for me and my husband and his girlfriend. Hang in there....
Yes you are a few days ahead of me...Today seems to be a little better but just the wondering is starting to get me ...I know I can not wait to get the Box and letter so start planning also..I have already written a letter LOL...
Hi Tatbama,
My son left yesterday, the 27th for Great Lakes as well. I knew this day was coming, but it came so fast. Like you, I'm overwehlmed with emotions and very proud of my son. He is my youngest and it seems surreal that he is gone. I find myself wondering what he is doing right now. If he has received his uniform or if he has received his Navy haircut. I know it will get easier, but it's hard.
Hey Jennifer I have been thinking the same thing today also just wondering what he is doing..Thank goodness I am at school to keep me a little busy but still the emotions are still new... I am so glad to have someone that is going thur the same emotions as i am who knows our sons may have been on the same flight together I got my call about 830 last night and it was one of the hardest thing to hang up...So now just waiting on that BOX.....
My son called and my husband talked to him last night. It was after 9pm. Not sure how I'll react to the 'box', and seeing his clothes and phone. I'm sure it'll be another emotional day.
I know the BOX they call it... It is gonna be hard unpacking seeing his clothes that he left in ... Today is a good day ... Glad to have another mom going thru the same
I agree with you about "the box" It seems so de-humanizing. But I guess that's the point. be strong :)
