My son is now at GL. We received the form letter about a week after he left. I noticed that the address IN the form letter, and the return address he wrote on the envelope was slightly different: the division number was the same, but the ship numbers were off by one digit.
I chose to write him to the address IN the form letter.
Yesterday, we received the first actual letter from him. The return address he wrote on that envelope was quite different from the address in the form letter:
The ship number was the same as the return address on the form letter envelope and he included the name of his ship, i. e. USS [fill in the blank]. The division number is the same as it has always been.
I immediately wrote back yesterday and put exactly what he had written on the return address on the letter we just received.
My question is, is that what I'm supposed to do? Is that okay? Will he get the other letters I sent to the different ship number?
I'm quite confused - I never had this problem with my husband and elder son when they were in the Army, lol.
Any insight would be very greatly appreciated!
Thank you all very much!
It isn't unusual for your recruit to use a couple different address at the start of BC, but you can check the correct address since you have both his Ship# and Division #. Here is the link to check the address,
Oh, wonderful! Thank you very much!
