My son is leaving today and will be sworn in March 20th, 2012 for Boot Camp in Great Lakes, my emotions are all over the place. I am so proud, excited and a little scared!!! I have read on the site about the boot camp training and it has put my mind at ease some. Anyone else son or daughter leaving for Boot Camp the same time?

Angela here is a good group to connect with the March DEPers    http://www.navyformoms.com/group/leavinforbootcampinmarch     once you get your form letter (about 2-3 weeks after he left) you can form (or join) the PIR group. Call the recruiter 72 hours after he leaves for the temporary address. Post it on here and the veteran moms can help you with accuracy(to ensure mail will get to him quicker) He won't get any mail for about 3 weeks and you won't get any real letters for about as long (you may get the first call before either of you get a letter) but you may find that writing letters will be therapeutic...just remember that most likely they won't get to him for a few weeks.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing posts from you!!

Yes, my son left out of San Antonio Tx 3/19/2012. I miss him already..................hope i will make the three weeks without talking to him!

Well my son John Tanner just flew out. Was with him until he left for airport. His dad said I was too emotional to go to airport and that is not the way Tanner should remember this time. It was bad enough at MEPS.

Do you know how you go about getting an address to send letters to our kids? I received my son clothes and phone yesterday it made me smile and tear up at the same time! Really cannot wait until boot camp is over.............

My sons recruiter called me Monday an gave me his address and then said she would call me either Friday or Monday to let me know his PIR date. Was so excited I sent him a letter right away and today to!!!

My son left on the 20th also from Houston. I keep wondering "what is he doing right now?" and pray often he is doing ok.

My son leaves for boot camp on 3-28-12. I am very proud of him but cry at the least thing. He has always been a home body and I wonder how he wil deal with being away and not able to call for so long. He wil be in San Antonio after bot camp for Corpsman schol. Anyone elses son going to San Antonio for schol?

My daughter left Monday the 20th also. Just received her "Box" yesterday. This is very hard but I am so proud of her! Thinking about her all the time and wondering what she is going through. Guess our kids will graduate together. Can't wait for that!

My daughter is leaving for bootcamp on Monday, 4/2. I'm already having some separation anxiety and she hasn't even left yet.  Have you had any news from your daughter yet?  Just wondering what to expect for a girl. I guess it's very similar to the male recruit training, if not the same. I

Well got Tanner's box yesterday. Cried a little but laughed when I opened the box, his clothes just thrown in there it reminded me of him he is not the tidy person I would like him to be. So proud of him but can't help thinking what he is doing and how he is holding up. Can't wait to get his letter. After Boot Camp he will go to school in Charleston. SC. So excited for him and pray for him to get thru these next few  weeks. It has got to be tough

did you find out about your sons divison & ship. Tanner is Division 151 Ship 4
