Looking to connect with others who have kids starting boot camp July 28th. I have received my "I'm here call" and now am waiting for the "box" to arrive. Missing the nightly conversations with him.

Southshoremom, my son is on the same ship and Div.
My daughter left for boot camp July 28 also. I received her box Mon Aug 3. I can't wait to receive a letter. I miss her so much.

Welcome aboard, I'm waiting for my letter too. Hope to get it soon.

Hello I'm still new to this site. My niece and nephew enlisted, both at great lakes boot camp been there week and half my sister got a letter from my nephew and both their addresses to write.  My sister and family are driving out for their "graduation" from boot camp in Sept My nieces is a week later after my nephews.  I also have another nephew enlisted has been in for 3 years.  Does anyone know if there are some folks to contact to see if there's like a b&b or long term hotel in the area they can stay in for two weeks? They are driving out so they are going to have to be frugal about this trip Any advice suggestions or directions to a b&b would be great.  Thanks everyone.

annyD's mom, I left info for you on your My Page.

Have not received my form letter yet, hopefully it will be in the mail today.

Will pray that it gets to you today. Hang in there.

Thank you, I was feeling a little left out, I guess it takes longer to get to Texas, LOL. Hope they are in the same division.

:)
My niece started basic on July 28th I received my first phone call from her on Aug 15th it was so good to hear from her:)

Congrats Mary, I got my call yesterday. It really is great to hear from them.

Hi Everyone....

My son also started July 28th.  He is in Ship 13.  I have received a few letters... and usually end up saying he is falling asleep while writing. We also got 1 phone call last Sunday the 16th at 5:30 pm.  It was so great hearing his voice, and as soon as I answered, he broke down to say how much he missed us all... heart breaking, because he held tough with all the goodbyes. But then he told us a bunch of things he is doing... it was great that his dad and brother were home too. (never happens)

But me... I can not put into words how much I miss him.. just being around him.. He is an amazing young man... I have been depressed and can't talk much about it because I end up crying.  I know this is selfish, because this has been what he has wanted to do since his junior year in high school.  He was positive.. no doubts.  I am extremely proud and I want him there... He will do great.  It's just that I can't talk to him, hug/kiss him, text him... this physically hurts my heart.

I would appreciate any suggestions in dealing with this.

Thanks, Patti C
