Hi Michael, my husband left yesterday & I got his call last night as well that he made it at boot camp. Never thought it was going to be  this difficult until it actually happens. I also cried when he called last night. The beginning is always the hardest and time seems to go so slow, but as long as you keep yourself busy I'm sure their graduation day will be here before you know it :)

I cried today also
I just got the call from my son 10 minutes ago, and I cried too after I got off the phone with him. So glad to hear from him and that he made it there okay.
Well my oldest left today. He's now in Chicago. Youngest leaves next Tuesday. I was ok till bus pulled away. Next week will be harder yet. My younger son has two babies he's leaving till boot camp is done
That's why we are here to support each other. It was hard at Meps today and hard getting that call. I just want 3 weeks to go by fast so I can hear from him again. Our daughter cried when she heard his voice and being 3 it's hard to explain.
We dropped our son off today. It's meps tomorrow then on to Chicago! Didn't realize how difficult this would be but knowing I'm not the only one feeling this way really does help! Thank you for your posts!! Good luck to all our future sailors!

My son left for boot camp on the 7th but but got sworn in yesterday morning and got my "call" last night.  I was an wreck this weekend but I am doing much better now.  Goodbyes are so hard.  We had a going away party Sunday which was great...we had way more people show up than I had anticipated.  The support from my friends has been great.  I know there will be difficult days ahead but I am ready to face them.  I so proud of him.  He will be going to A school in Pensacola.  Maybe a road trip to visit him before his graduation.  This was my last child to leave home so now just trying to figure out this empty nest thing.

I got The Box yesterday. Unlike when we got the call, I did not cry. Yay! I guess the means I am beginning to adjust to all this.

Has anyone received the Form Letter yet? From what I can piece together from the Day by Day description, which I think today should be about day P-5, they wrote the letter yesterday or will write it today. Can y'all share if/when you get your letter? TIA! Maybe we can PM each other with our SRs name and ship?

Hi LuciaPS! I got the box today.  I have not received the Form Letter.  I will share when I receive the letter.

I'm starting to adjust as well.  Instead of me sitting around crying all day.  I tend to write him a letter.  That seems to help for me.

Son went on March 7. I still haven't gotten the letter. His recruiter got me his address. I know I should wait for the letter but I couldn't! Anyone else have ship 11 div 167?

My son left March 7th as well. Fedex tried to deliver the box Friday, but I wasn't home. I was so mad. I signed the slip and put on my front door for them to leave the box. I was hoping they would deliver the box Saturday, but I guess Fedex doesn't deliver on Saturday. So, I got the box Monday. It was just as many described... the rolled up pants.. No secret letter in any pocket for me, but I didn't think there would be.

No letter yet. Eagerly check the box each day. Maybe I will call his recruiter tomorrow.

My son posted while at the airport that a nice many paid for his dinner along with the others he was sitting with. He was so excited about that, and proud. I am sure he is doing fine, but I can't wait to send the letters.

As soon as I get the letter, I will post. Maybe our children are together, Whodatgirl... I am from NJ, where are you?

Well, Santa was the mailman today. I got the form letter. Now to send off some letters, and count down to when we get to see him again. Haven't really had time to miss him lately because his 2 year old dog is keeping me quite busy, lol. Mine left on March 8th,so I hope all of you who had a loved one leave then recieves their letters soon.
