Can anyone offer tips on getting in with a couple extra guests who wernt put on the guest list? We have three extras...and heard that with 10 divisions at SR's grad date we shouldnt have an issue with getting them in. They just have to enter with a guest who IS on the list and then will be told if there is room.

Any advice? Two are flying in from Florida.

Active military personnel, retired military, and veterans do not have to be listed on the access list to attend. They must show proper military ID and must arrive with someone on the access list or walk in. They do not have to be in uniform.

If you have more than 4 guests who wish to attend, you have 2 options. The first option is to write to your Recruit and ask him/her if he/she has a buddy at BC who does not have 4 guests coming and see if that Recruit can put the extra guest/s on his/her list and then make sure you know the name/s of that/those Recruit/s and the Division number. (If the buddy does not pass, then the guest/s would have to go to the Visitor Center.) The other option would be to have the person/people go and go to the Visitor Center and possibly get to go in after everyone is seated--some do, some don't depending on the number of divisions graduating and the number of people attending who are on the list.

The extra guest/s will have to accompany someone who is on the access list to get on the RTC and have valid ID of course. The ID does not have to be a photo ID, especially for children, a birth certificate or Social Security card will work. Place the gate pass on the dash of the vehicle where indicated and have the IDs for all people in your vehicle, the car's registration (or rental agreement), and proof of insurance ready before you enter the gate.

I have a son going to boot camp soon, and twin sons in USMC, just want to clarify the othe sons DO NOT have to be on the list. They can go and just show active duty ID?? I don't have to count them as 2 of my 4?

That is correct.  The SR makes the list, not you BTW, so make sure he knows who you want listed and why you are leaving off his brothers.

So if I am reading this right my husband is a veteran so can he bring his DD214 as ID and get in without being on the list? Are you absolutely sure of this?

He would have to be on the list because the the DD214 is not considered valid military ID, although it is record of service.
So then how does a veteran show military ID?
He would have to be on the access list.

Hi Lemonelephant....I've been following the sting, but if I ask something that has already been asked, my apologizes.  My question is about Military Vet ID.  Is a Disabled Vet card acceptable ID?  Thank you for your wisdom!

A person with Military Vet ID would have to be on the Access List to get in or wait to see if there is additional seating to be admitted.  Only those with a valid Active Duty/Retired military ID card (currently serving or retired after 20 years or more of service) get in without being on the list.  The Vet ID would work for the photo ID though to access the base and Drill Hall.

(See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/ad_military_retirees.asp.)

I am updating this for clarification purposes. Not all veterans have military ID. If the veteran does not have valid current military ID, then s/he would have to be put on the access list.

Sorry - I just now read you reply.

That's fine.  I posted what the RTC had posted on fB and they have only recently clarified that veterans would need to be on the access list, but it all goes down to reading the part of "with valid military ID" and knowing what that means.   I hope it all works out for you and yours.
