Can anyone offer tips on getting in with a couple extra guests who wernt put on the guest list? We have three extras...and heard that with 10 divisions at SR's grad date we shouldnt have an issue with getting them in. They just have to enter with a guest who IS on the list and then will be told if there is room.

Any advice? Two are flying in from Florida.

Both of the above would need to be on the Access List now.

If a couple people put on the access list cannot make it, is it okay to bring 2 others?

Let your SR know as soon as possible so that he can change the names on the Access List. He will finalize the names about a week before PIR. You cannot change out names on the day of PIR. Anyone who is 13 or older who is not on the Access List will have to wait in the Visitors Center even if you have some people who were on the list who did not come.

We had 3 extra with us and we got there very early and saved the seats for them. They were some of the last left in and yes it was hard to save the seats. But we laid coats and tote back across the seat and gave our apologies to EVERYONE that asked. BUT, my 2 daughters and grandbaby was important enough to go to the trouble. So yes, get in there, save the seats and politely apologize for the appearance of somewhere to sit. Its hard but was greatly appreciated when the rest of my family was allowed in.

how early is very early???? We have 3 on the wait list, and we are 14 all together (lots of kids, and active duty)

If that were to happen now, the extras would need to wait at the hotel since no extras can get in,

I need to know this too.  I read only 4 were allowed.  I have 2 more that want to go.

The gates open at 6:30 a.m.  Plan to be at the RTC at/before the gates open.  Traffic gets worse the closer it gets to PIR time.

I understand that children under 12 do not have to be on the list.  I know they wouldn't be held outside to see if there are seats so I'm guessing they just go through with the parents, correct?

Yes, children 12 and under enter with their parents and do not have to be on the Access List, but you do need to have ID for them.  The ID does not have to be a photo ID, a birth certificate or Social Security card or school ID will work.  Also note that you do not have to show ID for children who are age 2 and under.

So we followed the recommendation to add one of our extra guests to a buddies list who only had 2 people coming to PIR.  We got a letter from our SR and so did the other mom saying that there has been a change by the commanding officer's policy and we can't have extra guests, even if they are on another SR's list.  Not sure what we are going to do except have Grandma wait in the visitor's center and see if she can get in after everyone is seated.

No extra guests means "No extra guests" not that extras have to wait to get in. The only time I've seen that before was for the centennial celebration last year. Have you checked this out on the RTC's fB site (https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand) or emailed the PAO (rtc.pao@navy.mil)? Putting extras on another recruit's list is discouraged because if the other recruit does not pass or is injured and is held back, those who are not in his/her family would not know it and there would be a problem on the day of PIR since they would no longer be on the Access List.
