Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

I'm told the traditional gift is a sword, but we gave our son a more practical gift--noise canceling headphones for his electronic devices. We also bought him a rolling wardrobe (after arriving in RI) to pack his uniforms.

TrekkieDad (wow, a dad on here), When you say "rolling wardrobe" are you talking suitcases? My son already has the noise cancelling headphones although he would really like the Bose ones! (Come to think of it......that might be a good idea.....although pricey!) Thanks.

Nice idea--would you mind disclosing the wardrobe brand? I had our son's formal dress blues photograph framed and am also framing the commissioning certificate. Gave him some $$$ but am waiting until winging to do a "big" gift.

I bought my daughter a quality watch, water resistant, of course. She isn't the sword type.

When our son graduated from the Academy, we bought him a sword. He has used it several times since graduation for wedding ceremonies !!! Money always works for a young person setting up in an aprtment if they don't choose military housing.

I have heard about the sword. How do you go about getting one? Is it a special sword??? I'm new to this. Sorry for all the questions! :)

spensmom, search "sword" on this site, and you will find some posts that reccommend a certain website over another. You will need to know how tall your LO is, they are ordered in certain sizes, and the height helps determine the size.

I think those are great ideas that you have already! Who could ask for more than having ESPN on all
weekend?! :) Congratulations on being newlyweds also. Do you think he will use the stationary? So few people write letters anymore. Another gift you might consider, if he doesn't have it already, is a nice framed photo of you or both of you that he can carry with him when he is away........just a 4x6 or maybe a little larger but not too large. I saw a small photo album at a Hallmark store that had a photo on the outside and places for more photos inside. It would sit on a desk or shelf. I'll give it some more thought and let you know if I think of anything. Good luck! All the best to both of you. -
