Just got news that my daughter who left for boot camp on April 7th is on Ship 6 Division 929.  Any other moms, dads, boyfriends, girlfriends, wives, etc., out there with someone in this group?

okay so my son is ship 6 but divi 930. I'd like to ask if any of you post a video of the PIR on 6/4 that you let me know so I can try to pick out my son. He said in his quick note that he'll play for two before his own. Thanks and Congrats to all of you.
Good morning, LMC. I am in the process of trying to beg or borrow a video camera from somebody. I don't have one, and I'd really love to take a video of PIR to be posted on here. Since our kids are going to be performing and graduating, I really, really want to get this recorded. I will try my best.
Tallmama- thank you. I will hope you can tape it. We have a small group in ship6 div 930 so let us know f you're able. and congrats. I know you can buy the PIR taping from the day.Congrats to your child for being willing to serve. It was choice that they made it wasn't an assignment. God Bless!
My son Joe is on Ship 6 Division 929! I just joined N4M's today! Janis Vooris Naples Maine
Welcome, Janisv. Have you gotten any letters from your son Joe yet? I have received two from my daughter so far. PIR for her is June 4th, so I'm busy preparing for the trip. You will have all kinds of guidance on this website! Just ask away, and somebody will know the answer.
thanks for replying, will that be everyone PIR date that is on Ship 6 Div 929? I got 2 letters also. First one was upbeat, second one seemed like things were getting a little tough! Janisv
I think everyone who is in that division and ship will graduate on June 4, but that should have been written by your son in the form letter you got with a few lines from him written on the bottom. On the second or third page it says what their graduation PIR date is and who is on the invitee list. He has to designate those people from his end. Now, that's notwithstanding something happening to an individual that makes them ineligible to graduate on time, whether that is illness or injury or whatever, but I do hear of that happening on here occasionally, so nothing is set in stone. I figure no news is good news. I'm really hoping to get a letter today from my daughter, as the last two letters were delivered on Thursday! Have a wondeful day.
We got a call from our son yesterday. I've already posted on PIR 6/4/2010 but thought I touch base about their division too. He said that they did get a flag but not by much. He spent most of the call with me talking about the wisdom tooth experience. He wasn't feeling negative about it yesterday but did say that he was far enough past it that while he was eating he forgot to be carefull and bit down on a piece of sandwich in the back of his mouth. He was SIQ for two days due to the teeth and also missed PT while he took DLAB. (I've also come a long way because now I know what all of that means!) He sounded tired but it's been quite a week. He did seem enthused about getting fitted for the uniforms. I think he said they should be back from the tailors today. I might have been confused about that because he was telling me so much in such a short time I know both of our minds were racing. His dad had just left the house and he was wanting to get ahold of him on his cell. We give them life, hold their hands and our breaths while they're growing up then feel like they're slipping thru our fingers when they're grown. I have much more empathy for my own parents now. :)
I got a call fom Joe, 4/30 but we had taken a ride into town. I got to hear his voice on the answering machine but I didn't get to speak to him! I was very disapointed! Where is everone staying for for PIR on 6/4? If everyone was to stay in the same hotel I think it would be great for the recruits! I can't wait to meet everyone from Ship 6/ Div 929!
Hi, Everyone. I got a call from my daughter on Friday. I was at work and she called on my cell phone. I've been carrying that thing strapped to my side since her letter said she might get to call on Friday, and, bam, the phone rang at about 3:00 in the afternoon our time. I had already warned everyone in my office if it's my daughter, clear out of my office, 'cause I'm going to be talking for as long as I can. We ended up being able to talk for about a half an hour. She did hang up at one point and try to reach her BF, but he was at work, so she left him a long voice message and called me back. He called me later and was heartbroken that he had missed her call, but he was glad to hear her voice on the voicemail and I filled him in on how she was doing. She sounded wonderful, after a few little tears when she first got on the phone, but that cleared up quickly and we chatted away about what her life was like there. She said there's been some drama, but nothing too bad. She didn't pass her first PT but she's getting better every day. She passed her swimming test and did a 5.0 and 4.7 on written exams. 5.0 is perfect, I guess. She's going to take another test next week for language skills, which isn't part of her rate, but I guess they wanted her to or she wanted to -- I couldn't get that from the quick information being exchanged. She didn't have to have her wisdom teeth out because they are impacted, so she has to wait until after BC. She sounded like she really likes the other young women she's working with, so that's a relief. I'm happy for anyone who got a call from their son/daughter, and keep the faith. Youll get a letter or phone call soon, I'm sure.
We're staying at the Sleep Inn in Lake Bluff. It's a mile 1/2 west of the base. From the first comments we read on their site we thought they had a suttle but now I'm not so sure. So if you see two middle aged people and a seven year old boy with a smile a mile wide walking toward the base offer us a ride! ;-) Our grandson is going to PIR with us and he is crazy about his uncle and I'm sure that PIR will be a big thrill for him.
Good afternoon ladies of Ship 6/Div 929,

My son's letter for this week indicated that they are doing more drill and working on the preformance. He seemed to enjoyed it. There was a "drum-off" for a phone call. He said that it was nice to hear something other than Anchor's Aweigh!

It sounds like things are coming together for our PIR experience!
