We are in Iowa.  Sounds like they rush them out everywhere from what I've been reading. Does make it a BIT easier than a long goodbye but grab that hug quick!

cindycl - my son also swore in yesterday and at the beginning they told us we would have time for lunch with him and be able to take some nice pictures. We had maybe 10 minutes with him and then, all of a sudden we were asked to step outside.  We waited for maybe 10 minutes and then they came rushing out the door and right into the van.  I think that way they avoid the long goodbyes.  I guess it makes sense but it kind of sucked. We did get a quick hug and an I love you as well.

Wow that's sad! We got to the Cleveland Ohio meps at amost 10:00 am they swore in at about 11:00 we had about another hour in a half at meps with him! We grabed lunch since they all got In the van for the airport! We had time since their flight did not leave till 4:20 pm! So maybe the amount of time you have is based on their flights? Plus our meps did the swearing in individually for each branch and was shipping off in the uso shuttles to the airport! Other navy recruits were arriving at the uso at Cleveland Hopkins intl airport from other parts of ohio to leave on the same flight so they could have had a long drive! How are you doing today Cindy? I am sure you have been thinking of him and wondering what his day was like, and his reaction to everything! I know I am! Ugh 3 weeks is going to be, long to get that 60 sec phone call! We can do it I think-lol! We can we're strong we are moms! But that does mean we think about more and worry more! Hugs and your in my thoughts!

Doing well.  Hubby not handling it the best which surprises me since he is the strong one!  I am switching more to the excited phase...wrote him a letter already and started another one today.  Keeping up on the daily routines and that helps a lot.  Hugs and prayers for everyone!

Ya it sounds like they all do that.  Just wish they would give you a heads up tho!  lol.   We kind of had to grab him as he walked out the door.  Made it a BIT easier but was kind of a shock at the same time.

Hang in there My son is at "the Hotel" also! Emotional day for a couple of us tomorrow as they swear in and ship out to RTC! Thinking of you all!

Holly - how did your swearing in go?  Ours was pretty rushed at the end when they had a meeting and then left immediately on the van to go to the airport....

I've read that when making hotel accommodations for PIR if you stay at the Navy lodge your SR is not allowed to go over there. Is that true?
That has been changed they are allowed now, where is A school for your son or husband healthhopehappiness? Depending on where a school is they may not have an overnite!
A school is in Monterey, CA.
Then you should have overnight time, and they ate now letting them stay there!
So he doesn't need to go back to his ship? Does he need to sign out or something? Any more details would be appreciated!
