That's very helpful, thank you very much!
Great ideas! Would never have thought about the disposable toothbrushes. Thank you.
No problem Navrine. Hope you and the other moms/dads/wives/girlfriends of deployed Corpsmen join us on the board. We hold each other up and have fun doing it. There are so many moms with lots of experience here. You can always find someone who can either answer your question or direct you to find your answer. :)
Once again thank you. I'm getting ready to go buy stuff to start sending him!
Hi Navrine!
For Motomail, go to https://www.motomail.us and follow the instructions for a new user.

It's called "Anyone with Sailors/Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan." There is a lot of good information in the discussion forums at the top of the page; and you'll find experienced moms who can answer a lot of questions, too.
Hi,
I appreciate the info. My son has now been put on the Afghan list and is schedule to be there in August. I don't know how long the deployment is for. I can tell he's a bit nervous by the emails but he's also very busy w/work at the clinic and all he has to do before leaving.

I dont get to come on this forum as much as i'd like but i do appreciate all the info and advice you all have to give.
God bless...
Laura
My son is early in his deployment to Afganistan. He's been there 5 weeks now. It has been hard, but it was nice to finally hear from him by satellite phones. I think of him very often and pray for him and all the men there every day. I sent the first of many packages and still awaiting to hear if it arrived. Hang in there and write for support. It really helps to know what other Moms feel.
God Bless, Estella
Navrine,

I just found out that my son will be deployed, too. I feel your pain and worry. My son (only 20 and in for only a year, currently working in an ICU) is so calm about going. He knew his time would be near as everyone else was getting orders. He says that was what he was trained to do, so he feels ready. I'll NEVER be ready. Prayer is the only thing keeping me going. He just came home from an Asia tour (after not seeing him for 8 mos) for his sister's wedding to walk her down the aisle. It was great seeing him, but so sad to see him leave again. Now I don't know when I'll see him again...He just told me at the wedding reception that he had had the orders for 3 weeks now, but didn't want me to worry with all the wedding preparation going on and he didn't want to put a damper on it. Talk about a considerate young man. He is is so happy at what he is doing. When he saw his local friends at home, he knew his life was more riched and blessed than those friends who are doing nothing with their lives. Our corpsmen sons/daughters are saving lives. He is doing as much, if not more, than I am as a nurse with my BSN and Master's degree. I light a candle for him every week at church and I will tie a yellow ribbon around the tree in my front yard when he gets deployed. I will keep it there until his safe return home. God bless your son as well. Christine
Hello! all I want to say that we have to be strong for uor young ones, I will pray for your son as well, you right he's doing more there than here. I try to be positive and so should you, it's very nerve wrecking not to hear from your love one at all.Have you sign up for moto mail yet? anyways good luck to your son and God Bless all our Troops!
God Bless all you moms and dads who have young sons/daughters who have been or will soon be deployed. It is the most difficult thing I have had to deal with in my 51 years of life. I have a young nephew in Afghanistan who has been there since November. My son was deployed to Afghanistan on April 24th. He has been at Camp Leatherneck for 4 days now. I haven't spoken to him personally, he did call my daughter in law 2 days ago, she said he was doing okay. I would love to hear his voice. Prayer is also what keeps me going and able to function at all. Putting my trust in the Lord to keep him safe isn't always easy, but I know He is with my "Bug" over there and I know He is with your sons/daughters as well. I will continue to remember you and your cubs in my prayers everyday. I hope it helps you as much as it helps me to know that the pain and nerves you are feeling are understandable and you are not alone in this! God Bless!
That is so exciting to me, to actually find someone that knows my son and is over there too. He only mentioned one other corpsman with his group, Burley was, his nickname, I hope.
Hi,

My son too is a HM3 and has been in Afghanistan for 3 months now. I know exactly what you are going through. I get through by my great faith and prayer. He was calling me at least once or twice a month. I sent packages to him and always send enough items for him to share. Also send photos of family/friends. They do have opportunities to communicate through email and Facebook as well as making phone calls from time to time. You never know when they can call, so I always keep my cell phone with me at all times. I can't wait for his deployment to end, so I can see him. It will be a great day. Take care and God Bless : )
