This is my first post! You all are way ahead of me - when and where is the M&G? What's this about ribbbons?
Welcome. Meet & Greet is at the Ramada, from 6-8 on August 28th. It is for families to get to meet each other after months of talking on line. The ribbons are a way of showing which division your sailor is in, kind of a name tag. They are on my page, under my photos(couldn't figure out how to get them posted here). You can see more detail about the M & G by going to the events calendar on your page and click on August 26th. You can also RSVP there, with how many family members will be attending.
OK! Got it. Looked at the anchor ribbons - they are fabulous! I'm kind of a crafty gal and would be happy to help. Let me know what I can do. How many ribbons would we need? I am in Seattle and will be flying in August 26th.
I have asked several times and have gotten no answers on the number of ribons to make. I would love to get started!!! I have found a website where we can get anchor pins w/ clutch backs. These would work well to hold the whole thing togther as well as hold it to the person. Maybe I will ask again on the main page how many & what names. I could order the pins and send you half. Or we could add the pins when we get there. We are driving in from Pittsburgh and I am hoping to get there at least with time to checkin and change clothes. I was thinking of using glitter gold fabric paint instead of the lettering on that ribbon sample. I have not been able to find inexpensive letters. Somehow I got my name on the top of this list. Will take any help or ideas you have with many thanks.
My husband and I are flying in from AZ on thursday and will drive straight to the meet and greet. I would love to help and will let you know what time our plane lands, making those reservations this week. I think we will end up getting their just in time though.
Does anyone have a fabric paint type of pen? Or know where we can get one? Maybe we could have some of the ribbons ready and extra there for Dad's and others we don't know about. We could add their names there??
I can check our Hobby Lobby or Joanna fabrics.
I will help in any way I can. I will be out of pocket, but at an Army post, from Monday to Sat. My friend is willing to help along with our two girls while we are there.. They do this a lot for the incoming soldiers.
Just a though - we get the ribbons, anchor pins and several paint pens then at the meet and greet everyone makes their own to identify them selves (first names) and division number. If we decide on a ribbon color then each of the ones on these pages can get a roll to bring. I think the cheapest I found the anchor pins was $1.48 if we bought 48.. If we shared the cost of the pins it might be easier. What do you think?
Perfect! I think asking for donations for the pins is a good way to go, and I'm happy to front the cost or contribute, whatever! Just let me know. Also having everyone make their own as they enter the M&G works too.
Ok, check out this site http://www.stockpins.com/flflpin.html. They have flashing and non-flashing USA flags on sale for .99 each.
I would love to have four ribbons for the four in my group, but don't know if name stays the same on all ribbons such as recruit's name or if I should stay with KJ's Mom on all or if real name of each individual. What are others doing?
