This Discussion is for loved ones of Recruits in Division 947. Your Recruits will be training together, so perhaps you would like to get to know each other on here.

Since your Recruit is in a performing division, you may also want to join the Group, 900's division sailors. There will be information on there that relates to your situation.

Besides playing an instrument or singing, there are also Recruits/Sailors who will do color guard, carry state flags, act as escorts, do rifle guard--lots of important jobs. They are usually involved in the PIR before theirs and sometimes in the one 2 weeks before their own as well.

Here is a site I found that explains about 900 Divisions.

jbsgirl1417 - I'm so very sorry for your loss.  You and your family will be in my prayers.  You already know that only you can make the decision of contacting the Red Cross, obviously, since you know your daughter best.  I know both of my kids would be furious if I didn't tell them something like this and waited until PIR.  Big hugs to you.
KathyMmom,
I found out that Red Cross messages are for the immediate family of the recruit only but I got the number for the Chaplain care line and I can call them and they will let her know. Thank you for your kind words. I am going to call in a little bit after I get my youngest off to school. I know she would be furious with me if I didn't let her know and I just wasn't sure whether to write it in a letter or contact her through other means. It is just a rough morning!
jbsgirl-so sorry for your loss.  I agree with Kathysmom, only you can make that decision.  Every situation is different so you just gotta go with your heart.  Hang in there, take comfort from those around you and from your new friends here.
So I was able to let her know about my stepmom and they let her have a phone call home!!!!! She is doing great and she is Division Yeoman and is going to get the entire schedule for our division out to me. She also said that they mailed letters yesterday so we should be getting one soon! Also, they should be getting a phone call in 2 weeks! She is also the Drum Major for the division!!!!! It is was so good to hear her voice and it was just what I needed!!!!!!
Oh I'm SO glad they let her call you!  That is wonderful.  What a comfort for both of you.  And WOW!  Great news about her being the Yeoman - what an honor!  I wasn't expecting letters for a couple more weeks, but now I'm excited to see what the mailman brings tomorrow!
Hi Moms!  I got a call from my daughter this morning.  She was calling for information relating to something for her job classification.  I was, of course, extremely excited, to hear her voice!  She also said they got to mail letters yesterday and that she would be allowed to call next week.  She sounded good, said they are having lots of IT (boo!) and the food is good, but not as good as at home!  :)  She also said she totally expects cookies when I see her in October.  One other thing, today is Week 1, Day 1 so I thought maybe they just filled the division but I see that PIR is still scheduled for 10/7.  I feel so much better just getting to speak with her for a few minutes.  She didn't have any of our letters yet, but hopefully soon.  They'll all feel better when they start getting their mail.  Hope everyone hears from their kids soon!
Darlene,
My daughter also mentioned it being 1-1 day! PIR date is still the same though so that's good!!!!
I got a letter from my SR today!!! I hope all of you did as well!!!!!

Congrats!  Hope we get one too, but will try to be patient until Friday at least.  :-)

Got my first letter today!! I was so excited! My fiance mentioned that div 947 is a "triple threat" div. Anyone know what that means? I just know it sounds awesome!! He also mentioned he's one of two bass singers in the choir so he will be leading them out at graduation. I'll get to see him stand really close! Oh my gosh I am just so excited for October 7!
mrscookiemonster,

A triple threat division has the band, choir, and drill team
I got a letter today too!  I am so excited!  I could hardly wait to get home from work, my husband had called and told me it was here.  Counting down the days to October 7 to see my baby girl - all grown up!  I couldn't wait to sign on to tell you all and see if you had letters too.  Isn't this a great day?!
