OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Do you think they can call home for Christmas?
My son left for BC on Dec 14th and we had a great Christmas before he left. I know that Christmas day will be holiday routine (so says the recruiter) but I'm wondering if the recruits might be able to make a call even though it's early since it's Christmas? Any ideas?

Ok, well like I said, it might be in the box, it might not be. It's possible he didn't send it in the box because he didn't have an assigned ship and division yet as they were still processing. My boyfriend sent his box to me and the letter to his parents. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe they have to send the letter to their parents unless they are married.

I was told to wait till Monday to call my son's recruiter and he arrived 12/15. No call though?

It could be different for your son. It seems like some recruiters keep in contact with the families more than others. You might be able to get the address from them, we were told we could call the recruiter if we hadn't heard after 3 weeks I guess it was. We got the form letter and another letter 15 days after my boyfriend left...so as hard as it is, try to be patient! I was writing letters to my boyfriend the entire 15 days and then as soon as we got the address I mailed him probably 4 letters at once. From what I have read, they aren't entirely settled in for the first two weeks and it can take a while for the mail to catch up with them even if you did get the address early. If you go to the RTC website, there is a lot of great information for families.

You should get a form letter with "the box" or separately shortly after "the box" arrives. This letter should have their Ship, Div and graduation date on it.

We are married. The reason why he sent the box to his parents and not to me is b/c he knows the address by heart. And it gives me the opportunity to visit them. He wants me to visit his family as much as possible while he's gone

When you get the form letter you will know what the division is. His address will start with Ship XXX Div XXX.

No idea yet what ship or div... Have the box but no letter. I know after years of Navy with the hubby everything is hurry up and wait, but still! Hopefully the letter will come soon. I hate to bother the recruiter, but he might be getting a call come Monday morning. (I don't wait so well anymore the older I get!)
We did a big early Christmas as well. In fact so much so that our whole family keeps forgetting that Christmas is next week!

I know how you feel. My son left on the 14th as well. Not sure of his info yet called the recruiter on Friday but he didn't have anything. Christmas is a big deal for us too. His dads birthday is Christmas Day. We didn't have a Christmas party before he left b/c he said," what's the point??? I can't take any gifts with me anyway." But, I wanted to do something so we had a "going aweigh" party. He still got a few gifts but it was things like phone cards, journals, inspirational books things like that. Which he wants me to bring to him after bootcamp if that's possible. I hope that they will be able to call. If they could I know it would be a WONDERFUL Christmas and Birthday present for the dads. Tell you husband Happy Birthday and I hope you get the call.

I can't remember what the letters mean but it means getting sent back for re-training.
