Envelope has no stamp and the RTC logo is blacked out!

I've gotten three letters so far from my SR, but the last letter I received had no stamp and the RTC logo looked like it had been colored over with a black marker! I have heard everything from "He's being sent home," to "The mail sorting machine can't read the envelopes right," to "They've changed the logo and just marking out the old ones to keep using the envelopes." But that still doesn't tell me why there's no stamp! Can anyone please solve this mystery for me? It'd be much appreciated!

We hear about the blacked out RTC seal on the envelopes every now and then.  (It's been happening since this site began and probably before.)  There is no good reason for it and letters go through without the seal being blacked out, but someone likes to start the rumor about the sorting machine or change in logo.  Maybe it's to see how many recruits listen to and believe rumors, no matter how silly they are.  Ask him in a letter why the seal has been blacked out and then see what he has to say about it.  Unless you receive a call from your recruit, there is not a problem and he will have PIR on time.  Your recruit forgot to put a stamp on the letter and somehow it managed to make it through the USPS to your home without it--did you have to pay the postage??

My son wrote in one of his letters that there is a reason why the logos are blacked out.  He didn't know what it was, he was just told to do it.  Maybe just another exercise in following orders?  Nothing to worry about.
