We got our first phone call last night.  Teary but great to finally hear from her.  We thought that PT would be tough, that's okay what is tough is the clothes folding and keeping her rack tidy.  I knew I should have stopped putting her clothes away for her when she turned 18!!!  I hope all Mums (I'm British that's how we spell Mom in the UK) are holding up.  I'm sharing your stress.  Look for me among the many happy Mums in Great Lakes on April 16th:)

3 more weeks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait
LOL Roz - my daughter said she was really good at polishing. I asked her about making her bed and she said "not so good". Not so good at ironing and folding either....why am I not surprised!!!!!
Mums need to be prepared for Boot Camp too. There are plenty of UTubes and websites for recruits but none for us, apart from this site, that give us a clue about the anxiety non-communication brings. I cried every day the first week she was gone and my poor husband did not know what to do with me. I hope I never have to go through that again even when they go to sea I assume they will at least be able to write and call occassionally? but then I am not sure of this. I hope they get to find out just what life is like at sea while they are at Boot Camp and that they will remember to tell us!!
Counting down the days to graduation and hoping they all do not take to many "Hits" not quite sure what that is but I do know it is not good.
My daughter left home on Sunday Feb 21st, they drove her to Richmond and she flew out of there to Chicago on Monday 22nd Feb with 3 other recruits, 2 men and 1 girl. She has told me the young lady was from Petersburg? is this your daughter? Wait I just noticed yours left with 2 other girls, so maybe our daughters were not together?
I can share your feelings about having done everything for my son. I always did his laundry, wash, fold and iron. However just before BC he did some ironing. He wasn't too bad at it but the other folding and putting away not so good. I can only pray that he listens and learns to do it the right way or at least the Navy way. I keep reminding him in my letters PAD - Pay Attention To Detail and always to remember his prayers. His favorite Bible Verse is Philippians 4:13 - for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power. I am sure he says this verse over and over to himself each day. I know your loved ones will do well and we will all celebrate on April 16. God Bless you all.
Well, week 4 is nearly over. I went and bought those plane tickets for April 16th this evening online. My son is coming with us and I got his very cheaply. Wayne and I are staying longer so I then got ours and as I pressed purchase the screen said "Sorry tickets at this price are no longer available" just my luck always a day late and a dollar short. She had better not get sent back now I can't afford it. Got another letter today, she got stuck with a watch that she does not like and the neatness bit is still a challenge. This is "Hell" week I think?? lots of tests and inspection, pray they are all making it. Roz.
YAY!!!! I can't wait to see my son!
We got our first call last Monday. It is Monday again I am hanging and hovering over the phone. NOTHING anyone heard anything?
LOL - my cel phone is starting to get wear marks - it is always on my body (even in my bra if I don't have pockets !!!). I'm like Inspector Gadget - "Boob Phone".

My call was last Monday also - nothing else yet, but my daughter said she might be able to make another call in two weeks. I'm not letting go of the phone just in case!!!!
We got our phone call last Monday and nothing since then. I think this is their Hell Week and they are working so hard probably no phone calls till maybe next week. Hope to get a letter on Thursday since that seems to be our day for letters. I pray every day that they will all make it through this. I have so many people praying for all of the sailors. Take care and God Bless all.
Got two letters today and Daniel said he is ready for this "Hell Week" to be over. Monday they had a test, Marlinspike and Tuesday a personnel inspection and weapons turnover. Wednesday Zone Inspection and today Thursday he was going to complete the running in PT. We tried to get him to run before he left for BC and he did some but not enough so it has taken him some time to build his stamina. All in all he sounds great and said he was enjoying the Navy. Hope all of you have heard from your love ones and maybe we'll get another good phone call soon. Prayers for all of you and your families.
We got 2 letters today with some good news and not so good. She is now a section leader working with 12 other girls. What a hoot the kid who for most of her teenage years had no idea what desser drawers are for now has to make sure not only that she is tidy but 12 others too! Unhappily her test came back abnormal so she had a biopsy and then she got an infection on top of all of that. It is frustrating we cannot pick up the phone and make sure she is okay. May all of our children make it through safely and may these last 3 weeks hurry up and pass. Glad to hear that the Virginia girls are together.
