While those of you who sew continue to sew (thank you ver much) here is our destination

Amphibous Assault ship The USS KEARSARGE.  It has been fun chatting with our chaplain, who says they have opened a new space for our Sailors and Marines to  unwind called Holy Joe's Café.  Are we ready to stock it?  Yes!

EVERYTHING in Holy Joe's Cafe is free to our guys and gals!

So, here's the request list:

Beef jerkey covered by Jack's Links

Sunflower seeds

Gum (no hard candy or chocolate)

Coffee--all sorts, both instant, packetts and brew type (I'm saying some tea, too.)

Single packet drinks

Personal hygiene products

DVDs

The crew loves any TV show. I've noticed the popular ones are: Dexter, 24, Prison Break, NCIS, True Blood, Sons of Anarchy, House, Spartacus. I obviously wouldn't expect you to get all of these, but it is at least a selection to choose from.

Board games: Storage space is slim, so bulky board games may be difficult. I know that Cranium, Catch a Phrase, and games like that are popular.

Can you add to the list--of course. (No though, on books.)

Lots of cards and handmade pictures from the kids--think SPRING AND ST. PATTY'S DAY

Pack what you can in gallon ziplock type bags so the group can help pick up their godies. And of course, the pillowcases

It's now just a stitch over 1,000 needed.  Chaplain says: 1028 total

216 female

812 male

In the meantime, keep those sewing machines tuned up and continue sewing!  '

Love ya

Carol

WOW Valerijean and Krista , full circle is right Susan :)
Just an FYI peeps...if you watched Kimmy's video she mentioned we still need lots of Easy Mac. I was at Kroger's today and they still have them for .49 if you buy 10. Not sure when that ends.
one more question ..are the pillow cases to be shipped separate or can some go in the boxes at packing parties

Lauren,

You can bring them to the packing party if you have some that need to be shipped.

Hi, I have two female and two male cases to add to the mix.  :-)

Dee

YEAH Dee ------ this is awesome , watching the number grow and grow

OK, this is from the MA Navy Moms.  I have a Mom who can get a case of devotional-type books for Holy Joe's Cafe's reading section.  All she needs is the chaplain's name and addy because the books have to be shipped to a chaplain.  Anyone know where I can get that info??

So, little MA is coming thru with some surprises.  I can't wait for our packing party on Saturday.  If all goes well (i.e. NO snow), we will have come up with something good too.  We may not be able to compete (yet) on volume, but we are doing our best to be creative.

Here's to hoping the little books will be able to go ... we thought they might be appreciated since they've been at sea so long.  Everyone could use some encouragement after days of only water to look at!  Right?

Proud Navy/ NYPD Mom,

We can't wait to hear about your surprises!!!!!  We know your packin' party is going to be a HUGE sucess!!! With a heart like yours it's going to be good...No doubts!!

You may want to ask Carol about the devotionals.....I think I read somewhere in previous comments they asked for no books. Is that right ,Carol? Or did I dream that?!

Good idea Kimmy.  I will pm Carol right now.  Then I'm off to see what else I can gather for Saturday - that is "MA speak" for see what people will give to me.

I still have to follow up with my CVS lady and her contacts for a packing party TBA.  She wanted to do something in March, but my grandbaby is coming then and I am going to be very preoccupied.  Thank goodness for cell phones and laptops, I'll be able to do some work for that project from NY while I teach my son how to change a dirty diaper!!

Hey, he's seen worse as a cop, what is a little baby girl's do-do, right??  And, if he balks I plan to remind him that it is his little girl's.  Lucky for him she is going to be a nursed baby so there won't be a smell unless Amanda eats something she shouldn't.  Yewwwww, what a conversation to be having!!  Sorry.

Talk to you later.

SPILLL LADY...SPILL....

I love your converstation!!!

When I saw my son changing his boys diaper (BTW he wore gloves)....I just about DIED!!! it's very funny...but they don't have a choice..

And soon I will be on that plane to go see my newest Grand-baby ADDISON!!!....I am choppin at the bit to get up to Seattle!!!!!

and I get to see SUSAN!!! and maybe MORE MOLLY....So I love going to Seattle...MY MOMCATION!

Sorry Diane, can't spill anything yet.  I've got to make sure my MA Moms come thru for me for starters and there are a bunch of others involved too.  You don't want to make me look like a nut do you?

BTW I can picture my son bringing gloves home from his squad car and wearing them too!  They both have an easy gag reflex so this is gonna be so much fun for me and her mother.  It is about the only thing holding me together.  It is a bit unsettling to think there's going to be 4 different points of view, but I've decided the only ones that count are the parents'.  Bet you thought I'd say mine.  hehehe

My son couldn't do it...he made a deal with my DIL that he would give baths everynight if she would change the dirty diapers. LOL! Men!!! Geeze!
